Help - what backsplash to choose? Adjacent brick wall & stacked stone!
Comments (4)Thank you both. Yes, I was worried about getting too busy - I want the fireplace, brick wall/lighting, & vent hood to be the places they eye is drawn... the backsplash should be pretty & subtle, not distracting from the other elements. I was thinking of laying tile offset on backsplash, then herringbone over 48" range with crown or pencil trim. I looked on the Fireclay website. What about something like this crackle in a gray-green london fog or salton sea? https://www.fireclaytile.com/tile/colors/detail/london-fog/ or even a gray like this http://www.thebuilderdepot.com/hparkdg3x6.html? Or do I need to stay more matte? Do I stay with a stone look (fireclay brick, ivory travertine, tumbled creama martial marble) or try to soften the room with a non-stone tile? I'm trying to pull gray tones & tan tones throughout the house so I have a versatile backdrop in case I ever want to switch... Re pulls: Funny, I hadn't considered brass. I was thinking ORB or stainless or polished nickel... brass does make sense when you look at the lighting. I was thinking silver tones to tie in the faucets/appliances & brighten the space b/c I'm worried it's too dark with all the stone/brick & loggia paint on walls. Hmmm......See MoreBacksplash help? Comments (14)is that white around the window wood trim? or is it the window? if trim, I would remove it and tile up underneath the cabinets. I can't really tell from the pic what I'm looking at. the cabinets should not be sitting on that white trim part, or whatever that is. as for the tile...it's Tilebar.com. order some samples https://tilebar.com/roman-collection-wedgewood-herringbone-marble-and-glass-tile.html it also comes in a Tuscon Tan color. creamier tones. https://tilebar.com/florentine-asian-statuary-marble-tile-with-athens-gray-line.html I think the Calacatta marble would be a nice choice. https://tilebar.com/talon-calacatta-and-thassos-marble-tile.html this one is mixed w/the white marble Take a look around here at all of their subway tiles. maybe find something different that you like? https://tilebar.com/collection/subway-tiles.html Maybe look at the Cadenza Line of subways. this is Thunder and Baja Dunes. Both of them would look nice w/the cabinet color and play well w/flooring. https://tilebar.com/collection/subway-tiles/ceramic-porcelain-subway-tiles.html The glass subway tile in my previous comment,, I posted the name of the company and the tile color. you could google it....See MoreNeed wall color and backsplash to calm ivory "yellow" cabinets! Comments (53)UPDATE in renovations! We have painted the walls Sherwin Williams Muslin, which almost exactly matches the cabinets, so If you want to picture it, literally look at our cabinets in first photos, it's the same color. We have picked out a Wilsonart Pebble Piazza Counter top. And we found a way to get some new stainless steel appliances! They are not here yet, but next week. After doing alot of reasearch with colors, Sherwin Williams Alabaster White goes really well with the Muslin on walls and Cabinet color, and ties in the Pebble Piazza Countertop. I can't speak for how it shows on your computer monitors, but it is a perfect neutral to warm cement looking countertop close to the first soapstone I posted only without the loud streaks of color in it. It is not cool undertone gray at all! Sorry the photo is not showing the colors better, I tried. But in the end, all I need to find now is a warm white subway tile that is really close to the Sherwin Williams color Alabaster! When you put an 8x10 sample of alabaster under the muslin, it still reads white but NOT a stark cold blue white. It is and off white yellow undertone white. Does anyone know of a specific subway tile (name/ brand/ color) that looks like the Sherwin Williams Alabaster paint?...See MoreWhat backsplash with Colonial White granite counters & white cabinets?
Comments (19)After more thought, the 4x12 is going to look weird. It will only be 4 tiles high behind the main counter. And the long stretch under the bar is only 5.5 inches tall so it will have one tile and a sliver of a tile under the bar. I really wish I could find something that is 2.5x6, 3x8, 3x10 in a color similar to the MSI Dove Gray. The MSI Dove Gray has a silvery tone to it that goes best with the Colonial White granite counters. I found a 2x10 tile that is gray (SOCI Crafted Brick Gray which is apparently new). I like the size, the crackle finish, and the uneven handcrafted look to it but the gray is more of a putty color. It doesn't have the silvery color that the Dove Gray has. The SOCI Crafted Brick Gray is apparently new so I can't find any pictures or displays at showrooms of it up on a wall to see how it looks installed. But, the Colonial White granite has some silver shimmer scattered throughout it that I think goes better with the Dove Gray. So, does anyone know of a silvery gray tile in a 2x6-10 or 2.5x6-10 or 3x8-10?? Something other than the 3x6 size that is everywhere. A little bit shorter and wider than the standard 3x6. Thank you very much for any advice or suggestions! Dove Gray on left in 3x6. Soci Crafted Brick in 2x10 on right. Dove Gray 4x12 on left. Soci Crafted Brick Gray 2x10 on right....See MoreBeth H. :
