This is awesome. I like the wood slats in the side. I agree wall paper or tile or a slab of granite or marble or something on the wall would be nice. I don’t agree with the blue on the cabinets. I recommend gray maybe or something else. I think the wall will dictate the cabinets or the cabinets will dictate the wall. I’m excited to see what you choose. I think the flat panel doors have a more contemporary aesthetic which suits the modern wooden slat design on the walls beside the cabinet. Tiling the entire wall was a fantastic suggestion and I would leave the ceiling as is. You could update the hardware on the doors instead. Shelves that were a bit heftier (i.e.thickness) that ran wall to wall as suggested would make it look a bit more cohesive and elegant. Attaching them directly to the studs so they were “floating” would also make the area look a bit more sophisticated.

It's hard to tell whether you have a skylight or florescent light above, either way, lighting improvements can elevate the look. The shelves can be illuminated from above and below which will be functional and provide ambient lighting for your living area at night.

This looks to me like a kitchen unit more than wet bar. You might consider hiring an interior designer to help with a comprehensive plan to create a more intimate space. You can create a dramatic change if you were to change out existing light fixtures and replace with one in the center--maybe hang a pendent light and give care to the type of bulb you use. Lighting fixture and shade and intensity of light create different moods. Replace double, kitchen sink and countertop with a smaller, single sink and more stylish counter top. There are nice pics from other comments here of shelves with under shelve lighting that look nice and create a very nice mood. But you could remove the shelf and add a framed mirror or piece of art work. The back wall can be toned down with different paint color. The wall is small enough that you could use a nice wall paper. This space could become the focal point of the room. I encourage you to hire an interior designer and take a comprehansive approach. Good luck

This is the wet bar my daughter did in her basement. The stone behind gives some texture against the shelves. Wouldn’t be too hard for you to do.

I’d replace the entire cabinetry there, add in a bev fridge, as other posters have shown above. If you can’t do that, I’d replace the sink with a nicer one, poss. single bowl fireclay or porcelain, probably in a bone color. Get a really nice, single lever faucet….this can really change the look.

I need to see the whole space . I honestly would reove tha thing I have never found the need for a wet bar in a LR so I need context .I entertain a lot and find the kitchen island is where everyone meets and has drinks and that has been the case in every house we have had a wet bar would be useless,

I agree with most comments. At first look, this looks like it's a small kitchen in a rental unit. The kitchen sink, faucet and countertop are not what I would deem appropriate for a wet bar. When I think of a wet bar, I always picture a small stylized area. Something with a bit of sultry pizzazz. Definitely not boring. I would add wallpaper or a stunning tile. This would act as a focal point. I also tend to agree that I would not consider a LR to be the ideal place for a wet bar. I think that serves its purpose better in a man cave or a rec area in the basement.

If budget conscious,  then you could basketweave or herringbone white subway tile on the back wall with a darker grout. Paint the ceiling above a darker color to add drama.  If you have the skill, money, time whatever there are so many fabulous wallpapers, depends on your style. Add some very cool bar accessories....z gallerie maybe. Make it fun!
