Help with baseboard transition

I need help with how to transition baseboard on an outside corner wall. The baseboard is different thickness and different heights. PLEASE Help!

Comments (4)Yia sas, youles! I think remodelfla is interpreting you correctly. Baseboards usually refer to the molding which runs along the bottom of walls where they meet the floor. What we call toekicks here in the US, the strip which runs along the base of the cabinets, does keep the area under the cabinets from accumulating dust and dirt. Depending on how much vertical space you would have between the floor and the bottom of your cabinets, without the toekicks, you could have difficulty getting underneath to vacuum or wash the floor underneath. I am including a photo from the finished kitchen blog, which show some traditional cabinets with feet, but I can't say how they're constructed. I am also including the link for that blog below. I have also seen very modern kitchens on legs with quite a bit of space below them, but I always think it's wasted storage space when I see those. Comments (9)Fixing that problem is much greater than just making that area look seamless. The problem is that the same base molding is being used for two different floor heights. That means the only way to solve the problem is to trim the difference(1/4") off the bottom of the base on the right to get the top of the base molding even. That means redoing all the molding in the room on the right. Another option would be to add the 1/4" to the bottom of the base molding on the left and adding to all the base molding on the room on the left. To make a seamless joint using painted trim, a scarf joint is used. That is a 45° angle joint cut in the end of a piece of trim, the opposing 45° cut on the joining end and the two joined with glue(and finish nails). To make that transition, a piece of the molding needs to be cut about 6" long. Using a multitool or Dremel, the notch is formed and the right side trimmed to the height of the trim on the right on the bottom of that side or the trim on the left is added to to equal the height of the trim on the right. That matches the top and middle trim profiles and the gap matches the transition strip. Then, cut the scarf joints on each end of the new transition section and remove the base molding on each side. Install the new piece and cut the corresponding scarf joints on the old base and reinstall. When done properly, primer will cover and hide the joints. Comments (9)Previously it was wood and tile. I don't like the gap in between the two. The tile looks more finished and cleaning in the corners is easier. I am trying to resolve the transition between the two bases... So the transition piece between the old tile and same wood floor was a reducer, but it was a trip hazard. I want a T-molding here. That is what there is between the other bathroom and bedroom floor (tile to wood) and the laundry closet (vinyl to wood) also has a T molding so it would all match....See More

last yearThis is what my kitchen installer did. Maybe it will be helpful in your case. The baseboard is in the hallway. The side of the kitchen cabinet (shown on the right side of this image) is fully covered by a panel. It would have looked awkward adding baseboard to this one small section of the kitchen, so he put this corner trim along the edge of the wall and a small flat trim (not quarter round) at the floor.

last yearYou appear to have a wainscot in one room and not in the other. That's fine to transition to different baseboards. Since your wainscot base is 2-piece, I would do 2, maybe 3 miters like this:
In BLUE miter the low base around the 135d corner to die into the wider, taller, simple piece. Then in GREEN miter the chair-rail style piece to have a finished end. The RED simple piece can be either straight cut or mitered.
