Warped Wall Studs ?
Comments (3)I think i would go out and get a case of beer for that crew, they should be commended for checking for warped studding and taking the time for the fix.We always added that to our punch list before calling a frame done checking for warped studs.Another way to straighten is to let in blocking, but sistering works as well.A good drywall crew will shave/shim warped studs, but it's nice for them when they dont have to....See MoreUsing stud wall space ?'s
Comments (11)I've considered the same idea in a few locations, mainly in our bathrooms and the mudroom, which ended up smaller than I had originally wanted. Here are a few inspiration photos I have saved: [[(https://www.houzz.com/photos/contemporary-bathroom-contemporary-bathroom-phvw-vp~10861) [Contemporary Bathroom design[(https://www.houzz.com/photos/contemporary-bathroom-ideas-phbr1-bp~t_712~s_2103) by New York Architect CWB Architects [[(https://www.houzz.com/photos/dc-design-house-contemporary-kitchen-dc-metro-phvw-vp~501803) [Contemporary Kitchen design[(https://www.houzz.com/photos/contemporary-kitchen-ideas-phbr1-bp~t_709~s_2103) by Dc Metro Kitchen And Bath Aidan Design [[(https://www.houzz.com/photos/contemporary-shower-contemporary-bathroom-denver-phvw-vp~884648) [Modern Bathroom design[(https://www.houzz.com/photos/modern-bathroom-ideas-phbr1-bp~t_712~s_2105) by Denver Lighting Designer 186 Lighting Design Group - Gregg Mackell [[(https://www.houzz.com/photos/feng-ciao-contemporary-bathroom-detroit-phvw-vp~73565) [Contemporary Bathroom design[(https://www.houzz.com/photos/contemporary-bathroom-ideas-phbr1-bp~t_712~s_2103) by Detroit Kitchen And Bath Xstyles bath [[(https://www.houzz.com/photos/message-center-contemporary-home-office-san-francisco-phvw-vp~54075) [Contemporary Home Office design[(https://www.houzz.com/photos/contemporary-home-office-ideas-phbr1-bp~t_732~s_2103) by San Francisco Architect Andre Rothblatt Architecture [[(https://www.houzz.com/photos/berkeley-remodel-contemporary-bathroom-san-francisco-phvw-vp~59392) [Contemporary Bathroom design[(https://www.houzz.com/photos/contemporary-bathroom-ideas-phbr1-bp~t_712~s_2103) by San Francisco Interior Designer Harmonique Home [[(https://www.houzz.com/photos/contemporary-living-room-contemporary-living-room-portland-phvw-vp~95032) [Contemporary Living Room design[(https://www.houzz.com/photos/contemporary-living-room-ideas-phbr1-bp~t_718~s_2103) by Portland Interior Designer Garrison Hullinger Interior Design Inc. Comments (3)Your plywood idea was basically to cover the wall with something the same thickness as the doors, make cutouts for the doors, and then when it's closed everything's flush? I like it... of course, I'm imagining it painted, but I'm sure you could make it look good stained, too, I'm just not a wood-tones kind of girl. With it flush-surface like that, the big vinyl decal would go beautifully over the whole thing - I've put them up before (in fact, there are some in my bathroom!) and it would be super-easy to just cover the wall, then use an x-acto to slit around the door. I think it could look great!...See Moreno studs in my plaster walls?
Comments (16)latest thought is to rough up the plaster with sandpaper and use liquid nails to glue the furring strips to the wall, without screws. liquid nails doesn't dry hard so I would think it would not be great at conducting sound. That, in combination with the Green Glue between the drywall layers, should suffice, if I caulk everything well. Yes some sound will go up through their ceiling and down through mine, and a little bit from below the floor, perhaps, but not much. I'll get short enough screws so they don't go through to the plaster. I'm going to seat the bottom course of drywall in a strip of foam pipe insulation and then cut the excess. That should also take a little weight off the wall....See Moremiscel
