Unless you build a kennel, I doubt anything will work... The thick areas of my lawn choke this out.

I have fought Wild Violets for many years, and it is a battle that is never completely won. They are very, very tough weeds to beat. The only herbicide that I have EVER had any luck with to beat them is Trichlopyr, which is in some Ortho and Bayer products (read the label). Don't even waste your time trying to beat them with 2-4-D, as they completely laugh at it. Expect to have to hit them 3 times about 3 weeks apart, and make sure that you use a squirt of two of dishwashing liquid in the spray container so that it sticks to the violets. I found that trying to pull them by hand can actually multiply them (the root is pretty brittle and snaps into pieces). If you live near a woods, they will creep back into your lawn with time. Stay on them. Best of luck!

There is nothing you can buy that will even begin to make a dent in the population of wild Violet except making the soil your turf, and the Violets, grow in less conducive to their growth. Have a soil test done by your states USDA Cooperative Extension Service (if I had some idea where you were I could supply a link) and adjust the soil as needed to discourage them. Violets seem to grow more readily in soils with a pH lower than is optimal for most grasses.
