Neutral Kitchen Cabinet colors?

Starting to plot my kitchen update.

Planning to paint the walls SW Snowbound to match the other main rooms of our house.

White (probably with some coloring TBD) quartz counters to replace these white tile ones.

I am leaning towards a taupe or greige for the cabinets. Or maybe a darker (green?) color on bottom and the neutral on top (no open cabinets, I am not organized enough for that.

We are not planning to replace the tile floor which is a a multi-color tile.

Any suggestions?

I am not a designer, but having remodeled 5 kitchens, I feel like its not always best to remodel a kitchen. I happen to like your kitchen as is and I would be happy in that space. Sure its older, but I think its nice. Honestly I would not replace unless you have lots of money to spend or if it is a functional nighmare. I know a lot of peope do not favor tile countertops, but I had them in one of my kitchens and I really like them. Your countertops seems clean and bright. I don't think I would spend the money on quartz if your are not replacing the cabinets and flooring.

If you are keeping the flooring, then match everything to that floor. I think your flooring is fine, its just doesn't seem to be sleek like quartz, so a mismatch in my opinion. It's like when you replace something with new and modern, the old starts to look really old.

Are you planning on replacing the cabinets or are you planning to paint the existing cabinets? If you are keeping the cabinets, I would not paint them.

I love the existing wall color, but I understand you wanting to go lighter. However, the dark value of the existing wall color blends well with your dark cabinets, so the soffit appears less obtrusive. And I think the existing wall color is working well in the backsplash area above the 4" tile. My daughter has dark green walls with cherry cabinets and we feel the same about her soffits blending in better than the previous beige prior to her updates. I like the idea of having a dark room in contrast to the rest of your SW Snowbound house.

Would it be possible to put the garbage can in the laundry room?

if cabinets and floor remain just remove the wood strip atop window / place a shade or a valance ...place some new hardware. because the counter strip is tile, along w counter you can find tile that coordinates and place a backsplash. In other words I agree more with theresa's summation. Spend a tiny bit but generally save to replace in a number of years

Well, SW Sea Salt would be beautiful in a breakfast nook. So paint the nook Sea Salt, and paint the kitchen in Sea Salt darkened 50 %. That would also be beautiful with the Morning Mist if you can paint your family room in that color. Those combinations would really lighten up the place and give it a more airy feel. Also, Sea Salt is a cool color, so keep that in mind as well.

Two toned is trendy, doesn't mean though that you would be tired of it. Depends on a person. If I like a color-I won't get tired of it. If I like two..I continue to like two. I don't stop loving a color, I can start loving more colors, that can happen:) You know yourself better. to me, more a question of a layout..not every kitchen can carry out two-toned, yours can. I really wanted two-tone, but couldn't go with it in my kitchen. Trends or not-bothered me less. Your house is also very cool..you can afford to do many things there. The better the bones, the bigger the freedom. Can you show your Neutral ground sample? If you posted a photo I can't see it. The website is acting up a bit lately.

I think the kitchen looks nice. I would replace the tile counters, because I dont like tile on a counter, but, yours does look in good shape. The white quartz would not look great with your floor, so I wouldnt pick that for your countertop. Other than that, I would leave the kitchen just the way it is. I love the wall color. I agree with Theresa too.

Agree with others your older kitchen somehow manages to look super cute rather than sad/dated. If function of the tile is an issue i could see replacing that with warm white quartz and putting in an undermount sink with new faucet. i think the tile looks nice though. its a but annoying to clean but if it is in good condirion i don’t know that i would spend money to replace. i also find that painting dated cabinets doesn’t always look better. and the color combo looks great!

I say paint it! SW Repose Gray is realllyyy nice on cabinets.

If you want to do darker on the bottom, I would probably paint the top cabinets in Snowbound too, and then do Iron Ore or Homburg Gray on the bottom.

Iron Ore might look better with your flooring. (Or possibly Urbane Bronze)

I have SW Snowbound and SW Pewter Green in my bedroom. They look really nice together. I have SW Snowbound on the walls and SW Peppercorn on my interior doors.
