Need Help for Fireplace Room Layout
Comments (2)I don’t think the fireplace is the issue and/or the problem. What type is it? Gas? I think the issues in this space have to do with your furniture being oversized for the scale of the room; as well as the furniture placement and other decor issues. Also, wood flooring with an area rug instead of the carpeting would be an upgrade. The two pieces of art on fireplace wall is not working. One larger piece of art, centered, would work much better. Or just do art over the fireplace, itself, with other decor on other side, such as some candles and or plant, etc....See MoreNeed help with fireplace design that has an interesting layout
Comments (11)Thanks all. I wish I knew if there was a technical reason for it to be up so high. I'm in a 15 year old townhome, not the original owner, but the fireplace has been in that position since the house was built. There's technically another unit on the other side of the wall. I was hoping to come up with something that worked for the fireplace as is before I tear it down and see what's behind it, but I agree that I'd rather have it in the lower position....See MoreNeed help with Fireplace Decor
Comments (25)Can you guys DIY? look into a cement overlay (less than $100) or a roman plaster, both of which could go over those slate tiles. I think you'd like this. simple plaster overlay. above the mantle you could do the drywall, or a board and batten type of trim if you prefer. but his is not difficult to do. Totally works w/your room too. (you could use a masonry paint and paint that slate tile, but honestly, this plaster/stucco/cement overlay is simple and would look better) or, they're easy enough to break free and you could retile w/something else. use a solid piece of stone for the hearth. you don't have a lot to do. if you do it yourselves, a few hundred would do it. https://angelarosehome.com/final-reveal-fireplace/ check out this before and after. https://angelarosehome.com/final-reveal-fireplace/ Full tutorial You could easily do this in a white color (but I'd top w/a wood mantle.) you could get this finish w/the cement or stucco overlay, or the roman plaster finish....See MoreNeed help choosing fireplace tile
Comments (5)Is the blue tile you show close to the island color? If so, and if you want to feature bkue in your home, I think the blue tile would be stunning and cohesive with what you’ve done in the kitchen. Your kitchen choices sound lovely and much nicer than the gray and white that is so overused. I think a wood countertop adds so much warmth to a mostly white kitchen. It will be gorgeous!...See MoreRL Relocation LLC
