I think I really like this stuff!
Comments (11)Well, I did have a great day! Can't do pictures yet because the batteries on MY camera died because somebody else used it. Can anyone relate to that? Oh, please say you can... Anybody?... :) Becky, The product you are using sounds great. My problem was that folks around here use grout for bathrooms and kitchens and such and when I mention mosiacs 99% react as though I'm talking about aliens. I don't live in a small town, but Halifax still has a ways to go in being able to provide the hobby, craft, and art community with quality goods. We finally got a Home Depot about 5 years ago, and a Michael's just opened last November. As much as the local stores don't like these big guns coming in, it spins a bit more competition into the equation which is sometimes badly needed. I like the fact that I can come on this forum and search or pose a question about what junkers are using, then make a judgement and go get it, and look forward to your input to my queries in the future! I chose Mapei because Slow recommended it and if you look at her albums, you'll see experience and craftwomanship which is truly amazing. The lady has got to know what she is doing and talking about, eh? LOL!! Sal & Nicethyme, Naughty, naughty girls!! Ah, well, one can always dream... but naked grouting??? EEEWWWWWW!...See MoreReally tough decision, AS vs Trane, 2 vs 1 stage, same price
Comments (8)If you haven't used it on something else yet, both systems qualify for the $1500 federal tax credit which is nice. The 16 seer system gives you a higher seer rating (17.55 as compared to 15.00)which helps during summer months. The HSPF rating is 8.8 as compared to 8.5. BUT - the 14 seer unit gives you a higher heating capacity so less time you'd be using the electric heat strip. Being in upstate NY - I would think you would be more worried about heating than cooling. Typically - the 16 seer system would be a more costly system so it sounds like you may be able to 'make a deal' with the 14 seer system. Ask them for a free humidifier or something of that nature....See MoreDo I really need it? (steam) Will I really use it?
Comments (16)Thanks, Michelle, I think I can understand maybe 10 cylces or so. But hey, whatever - like I said, it's the hardware affecting durability and servicability that I want to talk about, and most people at the store just give you a stammering reply there. My Maytag died after 6 years, which is atrocious IMHO. The bearings seized on the motor. No, you can't change them, it's a new motor and belt for $130, with me doing the work. I want to have some idea that if I dump a grand into a washing machine, I'm buying a good motor and drum and solenoid valves and hoses, not fancy firmware that ends up shorting out due to insuffcient control housings. But at least I know I don't need steam! Thanks, all! BTW I'm leaning towards a Bosch 500 (WFMC5301UC). Hoping the door mold issue is gone, and hoping someone knows something about them. Looks like either that or the LG TROMM, but I like the layout of the Bosch's controls and the way the door frame allows easier access to the drum. But I guess that's kind of wondering off-topic for this thread. I'm searching for info here and elsewhere, so thought I'd mention it....See MoreBuying something just because it's 'a really good deal'?
Comments (27)Last fall I finally cleaned out my basement storage and made a huge pile of things too good to throw out but stuff I would never use. I also had my mom and dads household in the basement from when we all moved into together in 2000. Only took me 8 years to finally deal with all the stuff. When we cleaned, we also made 4 (big ) pick up truck loads to the dump. So, this past Wednesday, a friend I hauled that pile of meduim good stuff to the flea market. It was an adventure! We got there at 5:00 am , by 5:30 all big items were gone and buy 7:00 am , I was ready for lunch! Or so it felt. At 9:00 am , we made our two tables into the .50 cent table and the dollar table. At 9:45, we were yelling out, "Everything a quarter" and at 10:15 we gave away free all that was left. That ceramic bird you bought for $7.95, Red, might have gone for a quarter. Maybe. The vacuum sealer and several boxes of refills went for a dollar. The health rider (Mom's) went for a dollar. Lots of baskets, knick knacks, pillows, books all went free. I took home a ceramic vase that I had bought on a whim that is pretty and cost about $8.00 when I bought it 8 years or so ago. Which is where I got the parallel, Red. Many people picked it up and one idiot asked who was the potter. Hmmm, tjmaxx? When we did the free table, I put it back in the truck to take back home. It was a sobering event in the fact that all the stuff I accumulate is not worth anything. We made several hundred dollars and I don't want to buy anything else!...See Moremtnrdredux_gw
