Baseboard heating covers

We need to replace baseboard heating covers. Has anyone used any they especially like? We have some newer slant fin ones that are kind of bulky. The others are very old and in bad shape, but smaller in dimension. I was wondering if anyone has used baseboarders, neatheat, covers by veil, or coverluxe brands? Coverluxe is plastic which I am wary of, but our contractor has proposed. Are any of these more or less sturdy? Better or worse conductor of heat? Any other brand you have found to be very good?

My only thoughts on replacement baseboard heating covers is that they are incredibly expensive for what they are. Have you considered just painting the old ones?

Sorry i just saw this. Some of our covers were painted (not well) and some are just in poor condition. In many cases they are probabky the originals from 50+ years ago. Some were replaced with newer slantfins, so we are thinking to just match the others.

It's a good point, but PEX is installed above the sub-floor to circulate the heat and then the mud floor for the tile is installed on top of it. It shouldn't add any height, since the mud floor already has to be 1" to 1-1/2" thick.

I looked again at the entire room, last comment I was focusing on the fireplace, as I had never seen a black fireplace before and it was so bold. I love it. You did an amazing job with the light colour flooring, the black window blind, black couch, light walls, pillows match your flooring, everything gels beautifully. You really changed the look of the room completely. It is very upscale and modern in comparison to the before pic. It is budget friendly too. Also love your kitty, lol!

I think they're specific to the existing baseboards, so there's no easy switch. Couldn't be any thinner than the heat transfer fins they protect underneath.

I priced this sort of thing once, and found that the metal grille ("perforated sheet metal") was hard to source inexpensively, and my clients wanted something freestanding, so I was basically building a small table. Both these factors made them prohibitively expensive. If I had to do it for cheap, I'd do simple frames with a couple of legs and rely heavily on the adjacent wall for support.
