Furniture Design Dilemma

Help with kids bedroom furniture layout.

Kids bedroom is 12 x 10.5 as seen in attached photo. Ignore the bed placement in the picture as I don’t believe that is the optimal way to have their bed in this size room.

We are putting a full size bed, tv and a desk for computer and homework.

I feel as if our options are leaving the bed like the picture but sliding it down against the window or turning the bed horizontal against the bottom right of the room.

Desk I feel like will be in the bottom left or maybe in front of close on the right wall?

Tv will be left wall.

In my experience the desk probably will not be used as a desk kids mostly sit on their beds with a laptop. How old are the kids? I would not have TV in a kids room until they are much older . I need more info about the kids .

Kid is 8. He is getting a computer not a laptop and yes he will be getting a tv as he has one now.

On the layout, things look a bit cramped, on the wall with the daybed, especially. There is something to be said for negative space in a room. How does the room feel? I'd center the bed on the wall and get small chests for nightstands. Would it make more sense to have a larger dresser rather than two chests of drawers? Perhaps you could angle the daybed? What are the dimensions of the room?

HI. Here is what I suggest: 1) Remove the shelves. 2) Instead of centering the bed, move it more toward the back (sliding door). Leave enough space for a shelf or nightstand. This will make the room feel larger and allow for a wardrobe in the front. 3) Wardrobe on the wall towards the front of the room, where you have a wider space. 4) A narrow bench at the end of the bed would be fine.

I’ve been looking for a big rug. It’s hard to find one that doesn’t look really cheap (since I’d rather find one that’s.... really cheap 😆). For now I have a rug like this on either side of the bed (the other one is a reverse color scheme). They’re souvenirs from a family trip to Morocco, so I love that they’re really personal, even if they’re not the perfect size. I will keep searching for a good value on a giant rug.... The rest of my house is quite colorful and eclectic. The house has mid-century/glam roots; when we bought the place, not much had been done since it was built in ‘64 (by a real character who hosted legendary parties with the likes of Frank Sinatra and RFK!). I‘m trying to respect that history while also making a practical and comfortable home for my family now. Not sure that helps! In any case, I‘ve always preferred a calming bedroom space, so I’m going for a different vibe in here from the rest of the house. Not this calm, though! This is just boring 😐

IMO kids at that age should not be on computers out of sight of parents and have you actually asked him what it is he wants since almost all kids I know have a laptop to take to school . I don't like TV even in adult bedrooms but that is just me. As for the layout of the space does he still like to play in his room with stuff? Id so then the bed against a wall will give him more space to play . I think the addition of bunk beds is a normal idea since kids often have friends sleep over . Our boys all had bunk beds for that exact reason.. I also think a full size bed takes up space so does he want one ? I think asking him what he wants in his room is always a good plan since it is his space .
