Comments (4)Depends. You could put a it up for auction with the stipulation that the bid must be at least x amount of dollars. Auction house usually gets between 7 and 15% of the selling price as a buyers premium. Not sure what the seller pays the auction house but my guess would be based on the price too. With all the places being put up for auction this time of year by local governments for lack of payment on taxes ect and banks trying to unload their pile of trash you may not have enough interest to get your min. bid. Many of the bank auctioned homes are much more attractive to buyers and flippers simply because they are paying pennies on the dollar. I know we just had the county sale of tax foreclosures and anything decent went for about a third of what it was assessed for. So that would be some of what you are up against. I think you are better off waiting it out with a regular agent. Many folks have the notion that if it's up for auction then it has something very wrong with it and they are therefore entitled to a good deal on it OR they will stay far away from it because don't understand the whole auction process and are afraid of getting taken....See MoreUpdate from estate auction
Comments (18)Yes, they had several open houses, so I was able to see everything in person to do a thorough check and sit on the sofa. The home was about 5 min from my office. It is a much different feel than our old sleeper sofa. The cushions are a little firmer, but that is an easy fix. Since that one is a little "mashed", I will contact the guy who just did our channel back chair reupholstering and see what he can do. DH and I are both short, so the size of the sofa is fine. The funny thing is the new sofas we were considering had pretty much this same look. Here is a link that might be useful: Younger Furniture sofas...See MoreBack from The Sales!
Comments (8)DH got new golf clubs for his birthday and was going to the practice range today to try them out. I got a call from a woman who said my DH was at her house and wanted me to come there as soon as possible. It was a yard sale. She then let DH tell me where he was. It wasn't very far away and he was standing in the street looking for me. He found an old oak table and chairs (6) with a big leaf for it. Just what we have been looking for. It was only $50. We can't pick it up until Monday afternoon or Tuesday because we won't have a pick up truck. I am so happy! DH went on to the golf course and on my way home I found another garage sale. I found the perfect purse thingy to replace my fanny pack for a dollar and then some candle holders (?) I liked. They were hollow all the way to the bottom so I am going to use them for bud vases. They were also a dollar and I asked the man to lower the price but he said he couldn't......sob story about how her was selling stuff for a old woman whose husband left her. (It was probably his wife.) LOL It was a good day for me!...See Moresherrygirl zone5 N il
