I have the Jenn Air pro style range and like it very much. The control pad is a bit complicated but after a couple of weeks I have figured it out and it is easy now to use and remember. THe oven preheats very quickly and the burners are quite powerful...at least for me. If your knobs are rubbing it is simple to correct -- remove the knob , loosen the screw holding the ring around the knob, and shift the ring a little bit up, down or to the side. It may take a couple of tries to be sure the ring is in the right place.

You can use magnets on some stainless--my frigidaire will hold magnets. How much the finish shows fingerprints and smudges and how it is to clean varies. My frigidaire refrigerator and range don't show fingerprints badly and are super easy to clean--quick wipe down with a damp rag gets the looking pristine again. My Bosch dishwasher is a whole different story. So if keeping the appliances looking clean is your concern, it is possible to get stainless that is easy--easier than the old textured white appliances I have had in the past. If you just want a vote, I'd go stainless. I don't love stainless (we have it because I do love induction cooking and at our price point, stainless is the only option). But my mom has black appliances and I really dislike how they seem to loom and suck the light out of what is a fairly big space.

I just ordered my cabinets, so I don't have pictures yet, but I will have 3 different door styles and 3 different colors. I will have a "hutch" with cooktop that will be a Shaker door in Oak with a Bordeaux (red) finish. The sink base will be the same color but will be Maple beadboard. On the same wall as the sink the base cabinets (on either side) will be a raised panel design in a Praline glaze (dark cream) and then on the end of the run will be a paneled fridge in the same raised panel but the color will be distressed black (there will also be a black upper cabinet on the other end of the run. I will be bringing my existing island with me (it is black) that has 3 diffrent door styles on it (inset with raised panels, inset with recessed panels, and slab drawers). The island counter is Copper, the sink run will be butcherblock with Soapstone sink, and the hutch counter will be Soapstone. Boy, is my kitchen sounding VERY busy!! LOL When my friends or family ask, I tell them that I ordered all cream cabinets, because when I first considered mixing it up, everyone thought I was crazy. It will be interesting when they see it for the 1st time.

aloha I think you need to step away from the kitchen and think about spaces... What do you want out of your space and architecture? Natural light or drama? calm or sophisticated? simple or adorned? flat or reflective? Come up with more adjectives that you can think of. Then, as you pull elements together, go back to those adjectives. Do these elements satisfy what is truly important to you. For example, I live at 48th degree N. This means above all else, natural light is one of the top things that I look at when house hunting, designing in my house etc. I will NOT compromise on this. Because of this black cabinets were absolutely out no matter how great they looked. I am not saying this is what you do but you need to figure out what is on your list in terms of 'ideas/sentiment/design principal'. Once you settle on that, the decisions should Do ALL elements work together? This includes everything: house, kitchen, windows, dining room, fireplace etc. For example, when you are going for a modern esthetic in the kitchen, you will also have to chose a FP with modern esthetic. Marble face with a traditional mantle will not work for you.... Sometimes, you may not end up with each item that you wanted. But you do the best you can with the budget you have. For example, I agree with all others that your idea of 3 different appliances will make it look as if you ran out of money... I recently saw a beautifully done modern house for sale at 1.6 mil. They had a FD SS frig on the background of dark cabinets. The frig screamed out "we ran out of money". Even my DH who is not design savvy remarked that the frig was not "fitting" in the house. Maybe this family really wanted that frig. It probably worked for them quite well design wise, and this was where they were willing to save money. For a potential buyer (visitor/friends), the effect is "we rant out of money"..... if you don't care the effect then go for it. Otherwise, review your design decisions again. This is a good place to review and review again.
