How do I UNINSTALL a wood burning fireplace?
Comments (3)Since none of us can see your home, the placement of the fireplaces/chimneys or see the structural integrity of the home, I don't see how anyone would even attempt to advise you on how to do this. You really should hire this out to an insured, bonded company should the worst happen if you are truly set on doing this. Personally, I would not. And no, there is NO easy way of doing it. Especially the chimneys. Those will be the worst. P.S. Are you married and actually living in the home? This could break the house AND the marriage. This is from someone who has done TOO much remodeling and is now divorced....See MoreBurning wood fireplace causes sewage smell
Comments (16)Hi Maria, We had our plumber install them. We just replaced the charcoal bags a few months ago for the first time after I started to smell it again slightly in the front yard. So I'd say we are on the once every year or two program to replace the charcoal bags--but it's totally resolved the issue!...See MoreFireplace insert for So CA wood burning fireplace
Comments (2)If you aim for a serious amount of heat, you need to get a direct vent insert. These cost at least $2K. They are energy efficient in that most of the heat does not go up the chimney like the typical gas logs that look nice but do not give out real heat. And stay away from unvented systems which are a safey hazard and outlawed in many places. Do a search of direct vent on this forum to find out more....See MoreInstalling a wood burning fireplace with a wood burning stove under
Comments (0)We just purchased a cape cod style house. we would like to add a wood burning fireplace in our main floor with a wood burning stove below it in the basement. I know the venting for such is possible because this is the way my parents is set up. But I am wondering if this is possible on a pre-exsisting cape cod, as well as ticket price. The area in which he would want the vent to run through shouldn’t run up the bedroom above rather to the side. Cost is not exactly a problem but I would still like to know the cheapest route to get this but still have all components we want....See Morebpath
