What to do with this 3 sided wall?

We are in the midst of painting the interior of our home and I have a wall that I struggle to figure out what to do with, in regards to decor. The house is open concept. I have had many things up on it but it just never seems to feel like it fits. The wall is the back side of our kitchen pantry so it cannot be taken down. Thank very much!

You are way overthinking this. Just place one piece of art or several smaller pieces on the wall where the stepladder is.

The wall is being painted so it's probably a duct with the cover off to keep it unpainted, like the missing switchplate cover. :)

Does traffic go through that area? I could see something simple like a plant on a stand, as it looks like a nice bright spot, but not if people have to walk through there.

Update on the Panasonic Convection/MW: I cooked stuffed peppers last night and decided to preheat the oven. I combo cooked for 25 min total but it took a little longer to get everything put together so it was preheating for a while before that. When my daughter got something out of the cabinet above she commented that it was warm and it definitely was. I got out the manual (which has a picture of the oven on a counter below wall cabinets) and under placement of oven it says "3" clearance on each side and 1" on top, do not block air vents, do not place near a hot, damp, surface such as a gas or electric range or dishwasher, do not operate when room humidity is excessive." Also, I couldn't find it on display anywhere when I was looking. They have it online at Sears and Best Buy but not in the stores and none of the 4 appliances stores that I went to had one either. I ended up buying it sight unseen at Buy.com . So far I like it better than the Sharp. Hope that helps! attention. I did notice the cabinet being warm on occasion but never checked during or right after cooking. Do the insulated north wall and skip the water barrels. Use the space saved for potting tables and storage cabinets instead. It's been discussed many times here, with all the scientific reasons why the black water barrels don't do anything for heat storage at all and just take up valuable space. I have one black water barrel in my well insulated greenhouse in Ontario and it freezes solid as soon as the temperature drops below freezing for any length of time. I just use it as a water supply source, filled from the hose occassionally.

Hope finding the brick above gives you a little peace of mind. Years ago, (dating myself) we had an oval shaped cast iron wood burning heater downstairs and a metal shelf hung between rafters in the ceiling to hold brick above the ceiling and thru the roof. The triple walled pipe attached to the back of the heater took the smoke from the heater to the brick. Covering that heater and pipe with the least possible brick or stone -- least possible expense -- would likely have resulted in a triangle shaped chimney. That is why I suspected you may find a wood burning stove or fireplace insert and some triple walled metal pipe beneath the stone -- but you may not be able to know for sure unless/until the stone is removed. Even if you eventually discover you don't like the look of the brick behind the stone downstairs much or any better than the current uneven stone, it would be easier to clad "straight/smooth" brick with something you do like than to try to alter the current stone. Also, without the stone adding to the size of the fireplace, it is likely there would be less of the floor to redo to match your new flooring. Looking forward to the "after" pics when you make your home/fireplace what you want it to be.

500 each ? I think for 1k, you could prob have a handyman or carpenter come in and build you something very simple for that price. You would do your own painting. This way, it fits perfectly. (maybe look for a remnant stone piece or marble to go on top. craigslist might have some, or go stop by a fabricators warehouse. they often trash small pieces in the sizes you would need for those cabinet tops) But if you like those, they could work. what size is your space and what size is that cab? check out some of the DIY ones have you seen this one? Post more photos of the entire open space. We can't even tell what area the doorway belongs to--entry? Living room? What color are you painting the walls? You haven't given enough information to help you out.

I would get six of these frames and use a photo editor app to transform favorite photos into black and white drawings, or perhaps sepia toned potographs. I’d wrap them around the three sides as I’ve messily illustrated below.

Sometimes it’s nice to have a restful place for your eyes. Not every wall space has to be decorated. Paint a color you love and live with it for at least 6 months until you are inspired with a type of decor — or not and leave it be.

I know this is not what you expected but IMO the rooms are leaning a bit too 'country'

Quite a lot more work but I would have to square it up. The angle disturbs me. Like round mirrors disturb me.

Just a personal quirk. I realize that 99.999999% of the rest of the population would be just fine with it as is.

l would do some minimal depth insets (kinda like a shower nook) - while it would lessen the depth of storage in the pantry it seems the pantry is pretty deep and a few less inches wouldnt be hugely impactful

IMO if possible remove it and do a rework of the kitchen to get much better storage too, IMO where you have the little buffet and hutch would be agreat place for a couple of true pullout pantries that is just one guess without seeing the whole space . The other issue of course is if the panyry there is hiding some support .

Paint it the same color as your kitchen. I would put simply framed photos on the wall. It will make people stop and look, thereby changing an annoyance into a feature. Find your favorite family photos and do white matting and black frames, all the same size. It may fit between 6 and 8 photos.

Leave it as a neutral space; It does not need to be decorated. “Less is more”.

@shirlpp, I absolutely was not talking about hanging stuff on the walls. I was talking about reframing the walls to eliminate the angled wall. No more 3 walls but 2, framed for a 90 degree corner. Thus the comment "quite a lot more work".

That wee angle wall is just too narrow to be hanging stuff on.

2 walls and you have space on each wall to hang things. Two walls and the stuff on one wall does not have to relate to the stuff on the other wall.

With 3 walls, one too narrow to hang anything on but leading you around the corner, then the stuff on the walls has to relate.
