New fridge came. Much drama getting water connected. Got to actually practice a lot of Spanish, though, which is cool. The previous fridge didn't have a working ice maker, and LOTS of plumbing work had been done in the house during this time. I knew better but didn't insist on flushing the line before connecting. Once the water wouldn't flow, I eventually convinced installer to flush first the line from the wall and then the length of tubing. By then it was too late! Fridge was stopped up internally. Installer was flummoxed. I cranked up the PSI from the well and kept washing the filter. Third wash worked. Kicking butt and taking names! The previous fridge had leaked for a year. Only a small ridge of Pergo was damaged at all. You have to get down on the floor to notice it n I didn't bother to clean it up after the first month, either. Whatever the original owners first installed is, sadly, long gone. New fridge is SO much easier to see things in. I hope we will have addressed most of my husband's habit of opening two gallons of milk at the same time and shoving food in the back and abandoning it. I can put four gallons on the door--key for me. (Used to be zero.) Even with that, I can fit almost all of the door stuff in the rest of the door containers. This is a bad time of the week to show how much it holds because I've cooked all the produce--and we have eaten down the fridge a lot. Still, I can stack the Rubbermaid Premeir 9 cup containers 2 deep on the edges--also important. Without a custom depth future fridge cabinet, I would hate this fridge. It is a MONSTER. But because I can do custom depth, I love it. No other place for cleaning supplies. Open.... Drama!

Looking at the picture of your parent's house again, I'd embrace the design and the contrast between the logs and other elements. A good power washing and restaining of the beams and deck, perhaps a newer deck railing design with tensioned cable railing, a more modern door style ("crossbuck does not relate IMO to the house) and some exterior light fixtures that continue the modern look as opposed to the too small colonial-esque ones there now. I'd also address that HUGE roof load on the skinny little posts. They look oddly and maybe dangerously undersized even with the cantilevered beam at the peak.

I’d paint garage door grey same as body. if you don’t like result, it’ll be easier to change to darker trim color. My thought is if door & trim are dark & body & roof are light, the garage door will look like a dark hole. I don’t think the dark trim will look like door wearing eyeliner 😅 - especially since I assume the windows & roof fascia boards will have the darker trim color. The garge door is darker than body now but there’s not the high contrast as with new colors. To Suzebell point of darker house color - it looks like there won’t be much contrast between house & roof colors so that dark trim will really jump out. I do think a darker body color would better show off the rock chimney on main house & rock base at foundation. Just something to ponder - maybe a darker color for house?

BeverlyFLADeziner has a very good eye. Find a brown that coordinates with the stone — it looks like there’s a taupe-ish stone that makes up about 30% of the mix on your foundation which is close to the color Beverly sees in her mind. It complements the roof color as well. Then, you either need additional or larger hanging baskets over the railing with fuchsia or trailing pink geraniums or petunias. Having the same flower in groups of three or 5 (think of the step planter as the additional) has more impact. Add additional timbers to the right side bed so that the top of the box is parallel to the porch surface rather than the sloping sidewalk and stain that the same as the siding.
