Inside Potato rotted - why?
Comments (10)potterhead 2 Exactly as I said--too much moisture and it grew too fast. I have often had that in large potatoes after a rainy summer. I've found it in potatoes at the beginning of using them and in late winter. They remain the same as other potatoes and don't rot. Just cut it out and use the rest. They are perfectly fine....See Morehow do you paint inside a bottle?
Comments (10)Check out Martha Stewart's web site, she did a project painting the inside of the bottles. Paint does have a shelf life. You wouldn't think so but it does. If painting the inside doesn't work, go for painting the outside. Acrylic paints don't stick to glass very well and there is a "glass medium" made by Folk Art Paints that you can use to coat the inside of the bottle first. (For painting on the outside of glass, you brush it on and let it dry overnight and then acrylic paint will stick to it.) Check out "Donna Dewberry's Painting on Glass" books at the craft stores or Walmart. In the beginning of the book she explains about glass painting - her trick is to use "enamel paint" which sticks to the glass very well. I'd painted on windows using it and still have to go two or three coats to get a good build up of the paint for what I was making. Also, enamel paint is made to withstand the outdoor elements and you don't need a sealant with it. However, if you want to use a sealant (on the acrylic or the enamel paints), get one that is for outdoors. Check in the decorative paint section at Michael's. I think your glow in the dark bugs would be awesome. Hope your project works and hope you'll share pics with us. Sal...See MoreBeets: Canned vs Fresh (warning: some gross references inside)
Comments (62)LOL! But FOAS, mousse is this year's discussion! There was a mid-20th C. dish that was (it pains me to say) popular (I only know about it because it was something my father's parents fed to my mother when she first met them, and she still talks about it). It was canned beets prepared with butter. I'm sure there must be some kind of delicious, fresh food, fine dining version of buttered beets, but there's no better way to conserve and highlight the can flavor than heating it in butter! I've had canned julienned beets served to me in salads, and they're fine. I'm not a total can snob, and I use canned tomato products and corn. But there are some vile things that come out of cans too. There's a good reason why a lot of Americans are scared of beets. :)...See MoreInside out - right side in (laundry tricks)
Comments (28)Wildchild...I HATE my front load washer (Samsung). It is the worst thing I have bought. DH sometimes does his own wash since I can't seem to get it clean smelling. He will put it on Sanitize for over 2 hours!! Its still stinks to me. give me my old top loader and it will still smell Laundry isn't my best thing to do. I don't turn things inside out either....See Morehappy2b…gw
