HELP - Anyone paint BM Decorator White Walls + Chantilly Lace Trim?

I know most will recommend using one white in diff sheens and i’m aware of the impact light has on paint, and a need to test first.

I like the idea of Decorator White to look white and just slightly grey, and so I was thinking the contrast with chantilly lace or super white as trim, may help create that effect in contrast.

At the same time, i’m not looking for it to look blue, which mostly is dependent on light and other colors in the space.

Has anyone done this and can post photos?

Our floors will be light oak (scandinavian - white washed).

IMO test the colors in your space with your lighting and IMO all LED 4000K is my go to for lighting it keeps colors true all the time . I find mixing whites can often be a lot more complicated than just using the same color different sheens and you also have a floor that is another color of white .

Yes, you can used Chantilly Lace for trim and Decorator's White for the walls. Chantilly Lace is just about as white as you can get, and Decorator's White has a slightly gray or blue cast, depending on the natural light. Point being, you will see a difference.

Just keep in mind, any white will be effected by the natural light coming in the windows.

Color is always so much fun when it comes to remodeling! Chantilly Lace is a very bright white (High Hide) color. It's beautiful! I usually recommend that people reserve this color for baseboards and woodwork. However, if you love it for your walls, you could always decrease the sheen on the walls and increase the sheen for the woodwork. why are you using white on the walls? if you want white, then use Chantilly. (Actually, I'd use Pure White or Simply White for all the trim. they are neutral w/no undertones. Chantilly is a cool white and can have icy blue/green hues) try crushed ice. it's a very nice color on the wall. or BM Pale Oak. this white in the pic is a warmer, neutral white. I would rethink using Chantilly w/your warm floors and gray cabinets.

Ok this post has made my decision final. I’m going to paint all my walls/trim decorators white. I like that it leans slightly grey and that there are absolutely no creamy undertones. I’m going to do the walls in eggshell finish and the trim in semi gloss. My floors are a whitewashed oak and my cabinets are a mix of painted white and wood stained. Will post pics in a couple of weeks when it’s complete to hopefully help others!

I'd leave it alone and live with the creamy because at least it would be consistent. And once you get everything in place and decorated, you probably wouldn't feel the creamy as much as you are now. But to answer your question, they work because there's enough difference in Chroma. And by work I mean one should not make the other look dirty or dingy. However, yours cabinets will likely appear white and your doors and trim will be creamy/off-white And that's fine as long as you repeat the palette of creamy + white throughout the space around the cabinets. That's kind of your theme going forward for the kitchen creamy + white. Again, I think you're better off living with the decision you made but only you can make that decsion and you can make it work.

@Patricia Colwell Consulting - Thank you for being so active on this forum, you’ve provided feedback/input on almost all of my posts.

We were leaning towards 5000K for lighting, which appears to be right in the middle, helping create a modern/clean feeling… any cooler, it would become institutional and cold, I assume it would start causing colors to go warmer than intended… you disagree?
