Help me work this table and china cupboard together
Comments (10)I think it is difficult to match stains exactly and wouldn't even try. Of course, I come from the perspective of collecting antiques--they never match and it would be heresy to restain a decent antique so we just use them not matching. My personal preference would be to have the pieces not even close to matching so it doesn't look like you tried to match and failed. Then I'd look for chairs in an entirely different color/material. I can't tell about the scale issue from the pictures. One thing I did notice is that the pedestal on the table looks big and I wondered if it would be in the way for people's legs? I'd want to sit at the table to check that out. I'm including a link to one of my favorite Houzz pictures because I think it shows a variety of styles mixed together into one really lovely and coherent looking space. Here is a link that might be useful: [Houzz dining room[(https://www.houzz.com/photos/sfgirlbybay-shabby-chic-style-dining-room-san-francisco-phvw-vp~26568)...See MoreHelp! Comments (32)I'd say the leather chair is less Woody Allen, and more Steve McQueen, who would be sexy in any movie with Sophia Loren. (Woody Allen is more of a half-moon-arm art deco leather chair) Like clothing, you don't have to have all your furniture be matchy-matchy any more. The visual weight and slim arms of the leather chair and couch are enough of a match that the pieces should work well together. The colors are neutral, so I don't expect there will be a whole lot of clashing going on in your room to begin with. This subtle difference should shine....See MoreTraditional Table - Contemporary Chairs? Do these work?
Comments (15)Thanks for the compliments on the table. I don't know it's true age only that it was old when my mother got it 46 years ago. She worked in a thrift shop and the antique dealers would place some items in the shop. She got to know them and asked them to find her a table. And now it's in my home!...See MoreDo these two light styles work together?
Comments (43)I love Arhaus and would shop with them, but they don’t do in store pick up and the shipping to my area is just not worth it. Got ready to purchase a bed and the cost to get it to me was $300. I’m going to need 3 stools and most everything comes in pairs or outside that practical cost zone for me. May end up with an additional stool. I’m telling you it is a real struggle to get anything besides the same ole boring and tradition decor and furnishings in that area. I agree with you about the chairs, but they are really good quality and finding something to replace them around here or without paying shipping cost is my same old song and dance. Fabric and an upholster I can get. Plus if I don’t use the stuff, there’s that “What am I going to do with it”? Nobody will pay me anything for it, and I already have a storage building with stuffed full, so I might as well use it. I’m getting to old for this, but I will get it done sooner or most likely later. I’ll send you a photo when it’s hung. And that will take weeks. Have a good evening. Thanks!...See MoreErika McConnell
