Need creative writers! with dark minds...
Comments (2)Hard to find a darker mind than mine .... LOL! RUN to the store -- and you MUST buy better Homes & Gardens "Halloween Tricks & Treats" magazine -- now out!!! REALLY fantastic part ideas, food and names -- and LOTS of downloads for ideas. Check at BHG.com/spirits page 87!!! some of their ideas: how about a "Bleeding Brie" cut into a heart shape -- open up a "wedge" and have a little salsa or even green tomato jam pouring out ..... For yours: 1)Chunky Blood Salsa 2)Lab Leftovers .... (p.s. don't forget to buy a small cauliflower -- put it in a jar filled with water and a drop or two of green food coloring .... instant Spolied Brain) 3)Try the Bloody Brie; Chilling Cheddar 4)Gallstones -- or the Classic Nuts and Bolts. Comments (29)So Lisa - Do you want the whole white inset - soapstone 'vintage look'? (just with a twist) Or do you want an entirely 'different' look that happens to use white insets and soapstone? How do you want your kitchen to feel? "Because I see this kitchen everywhere (and DH won't consider anything but white - it's his only strong opinion) " It sounds to me like you want something different -- something that DOES NOT look like (or almost look like) the "see this kitchen everywhere" version. For that reason, if DH is stuck on white cabinets, why not bail on the soapstone? There are so many other fabulous countertop choices that will completely change the look of your kitchen. I'd go through the finished kitchens blog, the Gallery, the 'Kitchens we Love' blog -- Collect pictures of kitchens with white cabinets that somehow look different. "What you describe is such a classic it is hard to improve on." The poster who wrote this provided a very real and valuable insight. White inset cabinets and soapstone is a 'classic look' -- and changing it could end up being 'wrong' instead of 'different'. Think of the little black dress, classic pumps, a strand of pearls, and a wild, funky hat. Different? - yes. Can it be pulled off? - probably. But if you drop the pearls and change to Wow! shoes with the hat -- then you have a totally different statement....See MoreCalling all creative woodworkers/designers...need a hobbit house.
Comments (1)Have you seen the Lord of the Rings movies? The first one, in particular, is a great visual reference, Frodo's house is featured in the beginning of the film. All of walls are curved; the door is round. Perhaps you could use a round container (5 gallon pail?) for the interior, cover with flexible veneer or wood-grain contact paper? Just some thoughts. Good luck, it's an admirable project, presents some challenges!...See MoreCalling all budget minded, small kitchen owners-counter depth fridge!
Comments (8)Samsung is at the top of our list. Their 4 door, Frenchdoor fridge is a winner with the wife. Our short term issue is the height. It is taller than any other fridge of similar size that we have looked at. I would need to trim several inches off the cabinet box. Or just wait till we remodel. Probably next year. I was going to go with Counter Depth and suck up having to pay a premium. However after looking at the measurements I see that the Samsung is a bit shallower than some of the other offerings. If I remove the drywall behind the fridge I can fit a full size fridge. The fridge maybe pushed back against the stud. But that is just a small bit of the back for the fridge. There will be plenty of room for airflow. One of the things I do not like about the Samsung we are looking at is that the fridge drawers do not have humidity control. I know some people have real issues with the Samsung and will not consider one based on the comments made online. However every fridge we have looked at has a similar series of complaints. My feeling is you either roll the dice with something that is on the market today. Or you wait and hope the next models released are better. I am not sure there is a safe choice these days. Well maybe a SubZero and the like if you are willing to spend the money. I loved and miss our SZ. Unfortunately there is not room for one in the condo....See MoreDana
