Design Dilemma Bathrooms

Hardware size too big?

Hi, contractor accidentally ordered bigger sized pulls than I wanted. Pulls we’re supposed to be 6”, but these are 8 1/2. Contractor is willing to reorder drawers and door and get the correct sized pulls but will take a couple months. Wondering what your thoughts are on keeping this size? Too big or ok? I’m also concerned about new doors and drawers not matching paint colors exactly. This is a beach house bathroom on Cape Cod, hence the boat like cleat pulls. Any feedback is appreciated!

Not horrible. As long as clothing doesn't get caught, I'd probably let it go.

Since the pandemic, I feel I am less critical. I'm just not willing to wait months for a correction.

Side story: we received a bedroom set that took many months. One night stand had a ” worm” hole in the front. My husband was all set to tell them to take it back. It is a rustic piece, so I felt it did not have to be perfect. We put that night stand on the far side of the room.

Only you can decide if you don't mind waiting. Yes, there could be a possibilty of the new ones not matching. But, if they are allowing you to to keep those drawers, if they don’t match then you still have the original. At this point you can get used to them and how they function.

I don't think it's too big at all, but since the answer is based on NEED, the person asking the question is in the best position to determine what functions must be allotted for. The total square footage will come from how much space is required for those functions. In figuring out the space, consider that it is not only the building that influences patio shape. Rather than keeping the patio strictly rectangular, you might want to have the outside edge parallel the walk so that a workable screening scheme can be developed. If the patio is rectangular, one outside corner punches into the space that is potentially needed for screening. (The illustration is an example, not a prescription; the lines can move according to the overall square footage needed.)

Also, in an ideal world, I like counter chair backs to be closer to the counter height, especially in a case like yours. But, I realize you are going to stick with these chairs for awhile. I prefer leather for the breakfast bar. People tend to spill more there and it is a casual in and out. Fabric is fine for the dining area.

I agree with others, the mantel should not be wider and the TV should be lower. So, here's how I see it coming together. Fireplace Mockup: Stacked stone with rustic beam mantel and Craftsman Custom Fireplace Door in Forged Iron. You can bring the stone down over the black metal at the top of the fireplace, which will allow you to lower the mantel height significantly, which in tern allows you to lower the TV by about 6" or 8". Hardware Sizing - how much variation is too much?

Im going thru the same delima! I decided this morning my larger drawers will be 10”. The smaller drawers and all upper cabinets(accept above fridge that will be knobs) will be 6”. My bookshelves, laundry room, bathroom, hall linenin closet and master closet drawers will have either 8” pulls or knobs. I need a total of 55 items I’m trying to find all those sizes in a multi pac but no luck yet! I might have to buy the 10” and 8” individually which is pricey.

I don't think they are terrible at all but I do see why you chose the 6" size, and agree that the 6" would probably look better. And honestly I don't mind them on the vanity drawers but for some reason seems to big for the cabinet door shown.

Longer pulls look more modern, so these are fine if you like them. I’d be concerned more about the style catching on your clothing than the size.
