Exterior paint and rock facade
Comments (22)You need some contrast. If you go brownish this will loose it's potential for design edge. Dark gray looks amazing! With white trim/white garage & a new door in a really bright color. Go all the way, good luck :)...See MoreLava Rock Exterior Disaster
Comments (17)I was going to say, just take it off the dang thing and replace with siding. Its just a veneer and often only on the one side of the house, not relating to anything else. Then do raised beds and stairway in stone in front to ground the house and give appearance of solidity. Create a good size landing in front of the door - at least 3-4 feet out, with the 4 steps going down between the raised beds on either side. The beds should extend at least 6 feet out to allow for a generous display of perennials or flowering shrubs. If room add small ornamental tree closer to the street, to the side of the house. Oh well, a project for another time maybe. IMHO small modest houses always benefit from lush cottagey plantings - - you could get geeky and choose popular 1950s era flowers like bright zinnias and red carnations...See MoreHELP!!! Comments (23)Those white painted rocks in the pics above make the house look like its made of marshmallow fluff! Not a good look. OP, Im willing to bet that those rocks are on the front only, am I right? Usually I argue in favor of saving original house parts but i have to say, the 50s thing for attaching fake rocks or brick veneer to the front only (like we cant see the sides??) is really annoying. Take it off! (Be sure to post after pics). Glad the tree is staying. Its not that close, and looks to be in good shape - a good tree adds value to a house. When the time comes redoing your front beds and adding a snazzy new door will add much more appeal....See MoreHelp with exterior colors for yellow brick house with red rock
Comments (10)Have you ever considered spray painting the red stone along the bottom? There are techniques now that allow that. Companies such as Spary-Net (there are also other such companies) that can do that if you don't want to do it yourself (inquire about how to do it and what products to use). Taking that into consoderation, I show a greige for the stone which will be an even colour once spray painted but it will have a nice texture. I've suggested SW Functional Grey for the 2 doors, garage door, and trim paired with SW Pure White. You can look at the suggestion for ciment walkway paint. I show a new black railing, new front door black sconce, and if possible, install 2 black sconces on each side of the garage door for more detail....See MoreJilly
