Heart Pine Floors Waterlox Chestnut too red

Angel Calci
last year

We have an old Charleston house with original early 1900's heart of pine floors. We sanded them down and applied a coat of Waterlox truetone in Chestnut. It looked brown and even golden on the website. Once applied, it is VERY red and dark and hides all of our natural wood grain. We planned to cover with two coats of semi-gloss H20lox sealer, but have now paused the project to decide what to do. Our wood trim and exposed ceiling rafters are a beautiful walnut brown color, and clashes badly with the chestnut. Aside from sanding and starting over, what options might we have to get a more natural brown out of our pine floors?
