A new flowering season in my sardinian garden
Comments (24)Hi guys, I'll like to thank you for comments, you're very kind :o) Aliska, you're right. Making plants association and colours combination it's a lot of thought, but it's also a lot of fun :o))) My garden needs much work especially in grooming (I hope this is the correct word) and watering. Weeds are few, plants in the beds are planted close togheter and the beds are all thickly mulched. I try to do not use pesticides, so my Roses are spryed just once per year. Enjoy some other picture! :o) This is probably my best favorite Rose of all: 'Odorata'! The bush in the photo is on his second year in the garden: he's 2 meters wide and 1,5 meters high, completely covered in wonderfully scented blooms all year round!! In the background, there's the buff and peach flowers of 'Safrano' Another little beauty - I love white Roses- 'Baby Albéric', supposed to be a bushy, reblooming sport of Albéric Barbier. A very worth growing variety. Another not widely known Noisette, 'Solfatare', traited like a shrub A corner of the formal pond in front of the house Roses, roses, roses!! ... 'Mme Louis Leveque', a Moss Rose The sweetly fragrant, princess of beauty and elegance 'Céline Forestier' Not a Rose, but a Poppy... California Tree Poppy ;o) - Romneya coulteri And more Roses... 'Louis Philippe d'Angers' and 'Le Vésuve' reflecting in the water... Ciao! :o)...See MorePost your three best combo pics of this season
Comments (32)My goodness, everyone has such a neat garden! What's up with that? Even the wild ones are neat! Thank goodness I didn't take any photos because I wouldn't post them anyway, lol. My gardens are way too messy. What wonderful photos! Even though I have a new-found appreciation for hot, bold colors, my heart still belongs to those pink/purple combos. I especially loved christinmk's salvia/campanula combo (gorgeous!), all of mantis' and franeli's pics, and for something a little different (for me!) thyme2dig's daylily and rudbeckia combo - love the way the rudbeckias pick up the yellow throat of the daylilies. Wow, thanks for sharing everyone. Prairie Love is right - we will need to resurrect this thread in about three months for inspiration! Comments (61)I didn't keep bud counts on all of mine but here are some clump shots of my most prolific bloomers. This first one may be a mislabeled seedling. One of the local hybridizers used to line out his seedlings in the same plot as my display garden. He did have an introduction out of 'Open Hearth' and I half suspect this may be a sibling. It was a real wowser though. I did count the buds on 'Desperado Love'. One scape had 32 buds, the rest counted in the high 20s. This is only a two year old plant in my garden. It blooms ML here and is still putting on a show. This one was sold to me as 'Mariachi' but I've learned it is actually 'Mariachi1' as the first "Mariachi" was a diploid that was never released. 'Mariachi1' is a tet. Take a look at this 2yr plant's branching & bloom. 'Mary Todd' is a real bloomer here too. Check out the scape on 'Mexican Maiden' 'Nile Crane' was absolutely gorgeous. Always a favorite performer here, 'Wild Horses' had a long bloom season And finally, my seedling 2007-048-003 (Jennifer Trimmer x Maltese Falcon) had what I would call 4-way branching (though when I asked the garden judges at regional to explain how they count branches they would have called this at least 6-way) and a budcount of 25 in its maiden bloom....See MoreHosta season over.....
Comments (24)Appears you are getting more rain now, according to Radar images. But none here in the NE GA Piedmont, on my little corner of the world. I'm into the 6th week without rainfall. The longest continuous period I can remember during the 44 years at this address. Even the 07-08 drought years weren't this bad. So far, I've managed to keep the trees and shrubs watered, with ¼ mile of garden hose, about the same amount of soaker hoses, 6 fixed overheads and 3 portable ones, plus 4 wands. Since most of the 1000+ Hostas are under tree canopies, they have fared pretty well. Those in exposed locations are watered by hand, 2-3 times per week. They're hanging on, but I am not seeing much new growth. Happy for you Phil, If any water is excess, please send it my way!...See Morebkay2000
