lolauren, it's difficult to determine anything from your photos, yet, but your statement that it is strongly fragrant and totally thornless leads me to believe it might be Zephirine Drouhin. Though the photos of the blooms look more modern, because it was sold to you as a climber (and Zephirine is grown as a climber), the color is in the appropriate range, the fragrance is strong and it's totally thornless, these clues point to this rose. Please take a look and see if the photos (you'll have to look at all of them because they look different from location to location) remind you of what you have. It would help to see a picture of the entire plant or, at the least, a description of the entire plant. The 6th (I think) image -- darkish leaves -- may be a flowering crabapple. Starts as a deep mauve bud, opens pink with hints of bright pink on some petal edges. There is definitely some blue in it so it ranges from pink, to mauve to purple. Quite a fascinating bloom!

Robyn, I like you have also searched for a pink rose with a double bloom of about the same size. It was grown by my mother who passed away when I was 11. Long before I cared about the name of a rose or when we might have discussed such things. Would have been some 50+ years ago. I ordered the fairy first as it had been hybridized before 1960. But alas the flower was too small. After a few other failed attempts. I tried for a lookalike and ordered Forever Friends and The Fawn while I know these are not the rose of my childhood they were very close and satisfied my need to have that rose in my life. All thou I've never exactly quit looking.
