I noticed the same beveled tile edges on your tub deck. Very nice tile work. Very nice cabinet work. And your material choices are very soothing and flowing to my eye. Your vanity really caught my eye. It is nicely designed. And I like your tub. You get both rectangle and oval shapes. Paint color is deceptive. I have lived with my master bedroom paint for 3 years waiting to make up my mind and repaint with this bathroom remodel. Amount of sunlight, time of day, time of year, type of bulbs, placement of lights, etc can really change the paint color too. I have a wood floor in my master bedroom that throws a lot of yellow up on the walls which I did not take into account. Plus I went with the fad of the year and painted the ceiling the same as the walls and ended up hating it as I laid in bed every night! And I learned that the main color in the base or added colorant always overrides the surface colors in the mix. Good luck with your paint. everywhere i have researched it saids will not last over the existing brass... but i am going to purchase a roll of softmetal adhestive, peel & stick , (they sell it for putting over your old appliances to make them stainless)... you can cut these in strips and adhere...they sell on ebay and also alot of websites for "peel & stick stainless adhesive" good luck... lol good luck to me too!!

I like to pack behind the spout with plumber's putty for extra security. If I have forgotten to so do, and the spout is already installed, I would pack a thick ring around the pipe from the backside (via access panel). Seal outer edge with a small bead of silicone, leaving the bottom open to let any water out. Mask it first with tape, apply bead, smooth with a wet finger, remove tape, wet finger again and smooth gently one more time. Also, a small squeeze tube is better and easier than a tube that requires a caulk gun. I wouldn't worry about the shower spout, but you can pack some putty behind the trim ring (escutcheon) if you like. This post was edited by homebound on Sat, Nov 9, 13 at 23:38

Unless you have some odd style of hinge, I would just replace the hinge. You can usually find hinges for less than $1 a piece. I think paint works well on some items like lights and frames. But having metal and painted (metal color)close together usually doesn't work well, too easy to notice the difference. I have used the "hammer" texture paints before and they do give a surprising amount of texture. I didn't like them in my application, but I'm sure they would do well in other applications. I was hoping the hammered paints would help hide the shimmery-metal paints "lack of depth" in the finish, but it really didn't help.
