Thanks Bee some very sage, calm advice. I have calmed down a bit and can see that I need to cross that bridge when I get there. Hopefully never!! I had never thought about using an auto body shop to chrome plate the latches. A good idea, but do they do that? My latches are polished nickel and while the difference is slight they are different. I have chrome faucets in the kitchen and don't mind the difference so food for thought. Thanks for the suggestions. Pottery Barn did contact me. I gave them my phone and email but they chose to do it via email. I would have preferred a personal phone conversation. They of course apologized without ever suggesting that they made any error or that their marketing needs any adjustment. They offered me $50. I have not responded yet but will likely ask them to still explain why I was told my order was available for "immediate shipping". A large company such as theirs must have ability to keep track of stock electronically. Also, I will probably take the money but may just donate the gift certificate to my school for the raffle baskets at the Spring Fair. I am presently boycotting purchases from them. Can't say I may not purchase some bedding or knick knack in the future but definitely NOT hardware or anything I may need to replace with an exact or similar copy.

This doesn't have anything to do with decorating or PB, but it seemed like a good place to vent my frustrations with on-line ordering this year. My in-laws live in NH and when we visit them they always like us to play croquet with them using their old, falling apart croquet set. So I got the bright idea that that would make a wonderful Christmas present. Well about November I begin researching this brilliant gift idea, only to find out that most of the sets in my price range sound as bad new as my in-laws old set. Finally I come upon one set that is made in USA and actually has consistently good reviews. Only it's about 50% more than I wanted to spend. So I get DH to take a look at the specs and the reviews and he concludes that it does sound like it's better than most of the others we've looked at and Christmas is only once a year and go ahead and order it. So I do. And I get an e-mail notification that it will be shipped on Dec. 9. So yesterday, when it still hadn't arrived, I e-mailed the company for an update on the shipping status and an hour later I receive an e-mail back that the item is unavailable and they are canceling my order. WTH? Why didn't they say that a week and a half ago? So I check a couple other on-line retailers that sell it and they are all out-of-stock as well. So my MIL will have a jigsaw puzzle and my FIL will have a box of candy for Christmas because that's all I sent, thinking that I had something really good on the way for them. So now I have to decide whether I should try to explain that I had ordered something and it fell through but I would get it later, or whether I should just keep my mouth shut incase it's been discontinued or something and I'm never able to get it. Fortunately my IL's are not really into Christmas and are likely to think I'm finally taking their advice and simplifying. But still, I feel bad. Sorry hijack the thread, but I really needed to get that out. Totally Confused

I have not had great luck with their lamps. I have three of them and they each have some problem or other. I'd compare the quality to what you often see at Home Goods. Cute styles, but corners have been cut somewhere.

I've owned several PB couches and I 'almost' bought the Carmel with chaise which is basicaly a slighter version of Big Sur which I also considered. Nope, I'm not risking it. I'm on the verge of ordering a Dream Sofa. The cushions have a three year replacement warranty. There are enough reviews on Reddit and here for me to feel comfortable. We know the depth and firmness we like and they offer multiple types of cushion densities. Their site doesn't' have many 'real' pictures but I spoke personally with a rep who sent me customer picks of the model I was interested in and I am super impressed. They are also sending me samples of their entire line of fabrics in the color range I'm interested in for free. The two performance samples I've tested were easy to clean and attractive. The price for my choices is less than PB w/premium fabric.
