Blooms from Sunday and Monday
Comments (16)I'm still dumbfounded that you're in zone 4 and your daylilies are not only already blooming but you've got some lates blooming too. I'm bordering on zone 4b/5a and I am just barely seeing scapes starting on my earliest ones and it is still a wait for blooms. The only ones that have bloomed were confused from late fall planting but established plants are nowhere near their ffo's. Anyway, these are so pretty and my favorite of these is 'Forever Redeemed'. That one is gorgeous!! I have scapes starting on George Jets On and Gilded by Grace, but my Prediction and American Freedom have no scapes showing yet. I also like your purple NO ID. I like the color. Celeste...See MoreMore blooms - Sunday & Monday - from Upstate NY
Comments (15)Jean: I know about hot and humid weather and we are suppose to get back to those dreadful temps/humidity later this week. For now, I'll enjoy the cooler and windy weather we are having now. Easier to get gardening work done. mantis: Glad it helps you. I don't mean to downplay a hybridizers creation but if it doesn't show improvement in 2 years, it has to go where it can flourish better. Even with this seasons up and downs (it could happen again), it's another way to see which cultivar is able to stand the test of our weather patterns. Comments (10)Bloom from Sunday nightphoto taken with flash Photos without flash: These last two were taken at about 10:00 pm and are lit only by my outdoor light, which fortunately lights up this part of the back yard. I guess the camera thought that there was enough light not to need the flash, but I'm glad I got it both ways. I hand pollinated this flower at 8 & 10 PM, and so I will see in a couple of months whether I was successful. I have three more buds (in the second photo) which should open later next month, and so maybe I will get something from those also. I got some help from the tropical fruit forum for hand pollination....See MoreMaryl (Okla. Zone 7a)
