Help with cabinet color selection, please!
Comments (8)DH & I agree with both of you about the gray. It's too much and we will probably tire of it quickly. I am trying to figure out if those cabinets are also wood-mode and their stain color so I can compare that against other color options. Here's one with the perimeter cabinet color I like and a painted island - cannot tell if that's a gray? But DH is getting thrown off as he thinks it's too busy with the backsplash. https://www.houzz.com/photos/kitchens-traditional-kitchen-dc-metro-phvw-vp~5787675-traditional-kitchen-dc-metro I also suggested bringing in a waterfall counter for the island and leaving all cabinets the same color as seen in this picture. But DH is worried the waterfall counter is too much of a trend that will go away and also concerned about the expense. https://www.houzz.com/photos/huntington-beach-contemporary-kitchen-orange-county-phvw-vp~162920-Beach-contemporary-kitchen DH is a fan of this slab style and overall color / finish. I like it but think it might look dirty and dated very quickly. https://www.houzz.com/photos/contemporary-clean-warm-kitchen-contemporary-kitchen-san-diego-phvw-vp~845494--contemporary-warm-kitchen-contemporary-kitchen-san-diego Ayeâ¦....See MorePlease Help - Color Selection for Walls/Ceiling
Comments (2)Your home sounds beautiful! I just looked up black fox. Nice color...looks dark but not sure what your house looks like. Someone here will surely help as they know their colors well!! Ever considered a gray green? Just a thought. For ceilings I would consider a lighter color in the same family as the walls or the same color as the walls. Good luck and keep us posted!!! Comments (36)Lee, yes I used my old boxes, and replaced doors and drawer fronts. Cabinet doors cost aprox 1,300 (with slow closing hinges). I was the GC (had practice with small BR), my painter did the sanding/priming/painting of boxes (also had to do same for my walls which had textured paint). I hired a contractor who was also able to do wood work for me, I had cabinet above cooktop raised for microwave, and pushed out cabinet over refrigerator, also had (something I would recommend) drawer made for under cooktop, and pullout for sponges, he put on my hardware, and did tile work. Contractor also installed my floor and all kitchen appliances. Electrician did additional lighting, under counter lighting, and outlet for microwave. Total cost of kitchen was 14,000 (not including appliances). When I priced gutting my kitchen (leaving sofits), cost was 20,000, price without all the extras. Before starting kitchen I thought price was going to be 10,000. The only thing I didnâÂÂt purchase before was the BSâ¦.needed to see granite and cabinets together, but since kitchen took almost 6 weeks to complete I had time. I shopped for fabricator both by price and recommendations. The only person I would never use again was the contractor, who did excellent work, but was difficult to deal with. I knew what I wanted, shed many tears, but am very happy with my new kitchen. (I will look for manufacturer of doors if you want it). debrak2008 the wall hanging is old tin ceiling tiles. This site may help. I was lucky I found it mounted at a flea market, but they can be put together to make art work by mounting on wood. http://dishfunctionaldesigns.blogspot.com/2012/05/embossed-tin-ceiling-tiles-recycled.html...See MoreBacksplash- Please kindly help on color selection
Comments (13)Crazy what lighting does, isn't it. Okay, I think I've identified the 'matching' tiles in each photo, but If I'm wrong then all bets are off : ) I've labeled them 1 through 4... If I've got them correct, going by the first and second pic's I'd choose #4 from the closeups, but if #1 is not too grey (or rather grey) it might work. #2 is too white and stark for me, #3 is too grey. You've got warm tones it appears, and some creams to work with. While I see grey in your countertop, there is none in your cabinetry. The real issue is all monitors will show colors differently - mine, yours, everyones. What I'd do were it me is grab at least 4 tiles of #4 and 4 tiles of #1. using two small pieces of plywood, glue all four of #4 on one, and all four of #1 on the other, set the up at a distance apart but in an easy to see area. Then look at each over a few days - glancing at them and looking fully at each, in the morning, afternoon, and evening - with your normal lighting on. This seems a pain but better to give it a good test run than put up something you don't like (and something other's perhaps can't see on their monitors) than make a mistake that you're stuck with. I do like the mildly textured tile you've chosen, and your color scheme. If you can, pick up a few more to test to be sure you've got what you really like. Hope I've helped a little, and not confused you. Thank you for providing the natural light photos : )...See MoreBeth H. :
