and this is why I supervise every single thing that happens on my builds personaly. I would never accept the mix up. the surface of regular pebble is too rough to enjoy. You can have the entire thing diamond sanded to fix the roughness. I charge about $2,500 for a good sized pool spa combo. That is the fix. So the plasterer (who is responsible for the error) should offer that or just strip it down and replaster. there is no problem with doing that. It won't hurt your pool one bit. only the plasterer's pocket book.

When plaster is fresh it tends to drive the water PH up and acid is needed to lower the PH. Since you have Stonescape there isn't as much surface area of the plaster because of the aggregate, but it still is enough to affect the PH. Did they instruct you to brush down the pool daily? The plaster will form a "cream" layer on the surface, brushing twice a day constantly removes the cream and exposes the fresh plaster and aggregate underneath. Typically the first two weeks you keep the PH on the low side and brush. At the end of the 2 weeks it should be looking much nicer.

Thanks dogpaddle, beautiful pool! I have some photos to post that I took late this afternoon. It was a cloudy day here so the colors of the stone and glass tile at the water line do not appear as bright as they would if it were sunny. The deck is a very light travertine (installed by the prior owners), which can get very bright in the sun, which is why I was thinking that a richer, darker blue water color would be flattering. Any input as to which color finish anyone thinks would work best would be appreciated! I know this is an old thread, but most of the comments are misleading sales pitches from professional installers and they understandably are going to have biased opinions. I would like to actually answer the question. I am a homeowner with a pool surfaced with Stonescapes mini-pebble. I will preface my comments with this, I love my pool. it is beautiful and the surface is durable BUT, and a big giant but, YES, unequivocally YES. these surfaces will scratch, cut and scrape your feet. Anyone who says otherwise is lying. the same goes for pebble tec These types of surfaces are rough. They are made up of, like the name implys, mini pebbles. No matter how well applied, like these guys will try to tell you, the surface of your pool is going to be rough. that being said, I will never go back to plaster. these types of surfaces are far superior to plaster in every way, but they are rough. they will cut your feet. especially the bottoms of your toes.
