Do I need to start over - LimeLight Standard DIY

a1an
last year
last modified: last year

on a whim last fall, I took a LimeLight and planned to DIY a standard.

Right now, the leader is a measly 19".

I have 5 side branching. 3 on the terminal end and another 2 branches below

I did not measure them all but I did measure one branch, and it's 24" long.

Based on my experience, all the engergy will focus on the branches. The leader will get thick

Thicker over the years. Same with branching, Older get's thicker

WILL it GROW Taller in it's current form?

I think I need to start over ? Do I start with a -desired height- leader ?

If I don't start over, will the leader grow taller ?

I've yet to -top- it, but whatver was winter dieback, you can see above the 1st termimal branching. That 2 inch part of that leader is thin and dried and thin. Below, that, it's gotten thicker from last year.

I've yet to DIY a standard. The nursery ones I have planted have never grown taller AFAIK....not even 6 inches higher...

My gut tells me I need to start over with a 42-45" leader but someone here might tell me otherwise..
