Paint Color Decorating Advice for Den and Dining Room
Comments (7)You can put a darker color on the ceiling if you wish. I have darker ceilings in my master bath, DH's study and am just painting the coffered ceiling in our hallway eggplant. It tends to bring the ceiling height down, but your ceilings look plenty high so it won't be an issue. I have lenox tan in a bedroom and it is very dark. I don't mean dark in color, but dark in that it absorbs every ounce of light we put in the room. It looks to me like the other colors you've chosen will also read dark on the walls. If this is the look you are going for, fine, but if not, you might want to look at something similar but with a little more life like dry sage....which they suggest goes with maple leaf red.... It's hard for me to say though as I have no sunlight today...very overcast...so my color samples aren't reading true. wethersfield moss dry sage...See MoreAdvice for dining room and living room (not clashing with kitchen)?

Comments (13)The only thing I would probably change is the coffee table. Get something a little bigger and oval in shape. You have a lot of linear lines in your space and an oval coffee table would help to soften those strong lines. Then I would add colour through artwork on the walls and maybe comfortable cushions with some colour on the sofas. I don't see any lighting anywhere so I will assume that you have potlights everywhere. Duirng the day see if there is any light lacking in the corners and see if any is needed. Certainly add a light in the dining room and maybe pendants over the peninsula. Do you need some sort of buffet in the dining room? Do the kids have a separate playroom or is there a need for a toy storage bin for them in this area. It looks like a nice home....See MorePatricia Colwell Consulting
