Window treatments, whether hard treatments or soft , should be selected in conjunction with your decorating style.

You need not select this now, unless you are convinced you want something hardwired and motorized.

There are great "temporary" solutions that could look good and last at least a year or more after a move in. Windows facing street and especially ground level are best with same treatment...: ) or one that will appear same from street view. In the wait for permanent?

.......Go to Home Depot for cordless cellular shades and cut to fit widths, inside or outside mount, right in the store: ) They're fabulous. I often leave them as permanent under curtain panels, especially in kids rooms, guest bedrooms. Translucent privacy, blackout, even top down bottom up! You might spend a grand on the entire 13 windows.....but you will have bought yourself a lot of time, and might decide these ARE forever in more than a few rooms.

Point is, don't rush window treatments, and avoid blinds. UGH.

Long story short...not all windows have to match. Some people like to have the front of their home consistent. Base each room on your need for privacy, amount of light filtration, practicality, your style and budget can will play a big part, as it can really add up.

In regards to the slider in great room, lifestyle will be an important factor to consider.

I love solar shades to control heat and UV so any windows where that is an issue need those . I use a mix of solar shades and drapes in bedrooms and living space the drapes are for night time privacy the shades give you day time privacy. I need to see the spaces and also a bit about your style for sure IMO window coverings are best planned when the house is further along to get a real feel for where you need what.I use those slider type solar shades on patio doors again for controlling heat and UV

Thanks Patricia, Maureen and Jan. I’m including pictures. They aren’t the best but it will give you and idea. I hope you can tell from the pictures that privacy could be an issue. Another question is- would curtains over the slider look good with shades?

I stand by the earlier comment. You do not need this at this point of build. The solution I gave you will work everywhere and buy you TONS of time to account for every issue. I don't love curtains on sliders and especially do not love them when in and out is frequent. You are out over your skis. Chill until MUCH further along. .............with your decorative aspects.

A trip to Home depot a week before you move in, will solve all the privacy and heat issues. ALL of which is most important in bedrooms. bathrooms, and less critical in more public spaces like a dining room. Relax : )
