HELP! Furniture Layout for Basement Living Room with Fireplace and TV?
Comments (5)Great ideas @havingfun! Thank You! It's funny, we started physically moving some things around down there, and I'm starting to think the TV should indeed go on the far wall. I'm just worried about it creating a black hole at the end of this long room. Are you suggesting dividing the room into two sections? Like a TV section and a fireplace section? "face couch or appropriate chairs towards the tv. appropriate chairs or couch to fireplace" and then a rug in each section? I like Bohemian, vintage, rustic, industrial styles I think. I liked the first and third rug you suggested. Maybe light bright rugs and warm darker furniture? We really like the idea of leather sofa/s, like the kind with the nailheads. We have cats and friends, so any anti-stain, non-fur grabbing furniture is what we are looking for....See MoreFurniture is HUGE jn new living room!! TV over fireplace??
Comments (18)Would you consider at least getting a smaller TV? It's massive for your room. If you're keeping it, then please don't put it over the fireplace. You need another focal point. Instead, find a beautiful square art work for over the fireplace to pull the eye away from the screen. Get drapes for the window, again to balance out the huge dark pieces taking up almost all the visual space: TV, big leather sofas.Beverly's layout seems the best since it opens up some space for your passageways on the right....See MoreLiving room layout with tv and fireplace
Comments (45)Erin, please go talk to a lawyer in person asap. Of course the builder wants you to sign over your land, because then he can hold you hostage, even if he does a poor job and drags things out. If you own the land and there is a major problem, you can fire the builder and tell him to get off your land. If he get annoyed at you, he'll even be able to tell you not to trespass on what is now his property. How will you feel when you aren't allowed to step on your property without the builder's permission? I own a lot and will be building next year. I would never ever ever, sign my lot over to anyone. You said you had never been through this before. Many here have, and experience tells us that you need someone to represent your interests. Please see a lawyer....See MoreWhere Do I put my tv and how should I arrange my living room? Help!!
Comments (5)Can you return it and get a smaller one? (I admit I think your fireplace wall is lovely and I personally wouldn't ruin it with a television. But I am a tiny minority who has lived without television for almost 30 years.) Is there another room in which to put it, or do you prefer to use this room for watching it?...See MoreSneha
