How would you update this modest colonial ranch exterior
Comments (30)oh, melle..you know they now show me listings in your area, lol? probably because of these two you shared once..as an examples of what you like/dislike.. but since i didn't know your neighbourhood of preference, etc..In short I just looked at them the kitchen does look like a garage! I like the fire red, very bold of them; but layout is not easy. no countertop around the stove makes it really challenging lots of work, or so I envision bathrooms too..although it might be photos distort the places. Bathrooms are hard to shoot too they're smaller. possibilities will reveal themselves to you when there Iike the living, the backyard(possibilities!) , and the house overall is nice. I do think brick has nothing to do there. But I'd go there and feel it you know? It can be 15 things that you dislike and one you love, and that one will overweight other 15.. ah. don't mind their decor. just kinda wipe it when looking..in your mind. interesting bedroom with that step.....See MoreHelp with exterior update for 70s orange/brown brick ranch.
Comments (21)the gutters would look so much better in a copper color, especially w/that Jade color. anyway you can get them painted (or don't know if you're getting new ones) you could do the bronze/copper, or a brighter copper, address numbers and copper window boxes (You can order copper sheeting and make these yourself. or just paint a copper color. but the real stuff patinas w/time. I have a roll of super thin real copper. it's not difficult to work with) for the front door, I'd do the jade color, or even a lighter jade. If you don't want green on the trim, How about one of these Bronze colors? for the garage door I think any of the 3 would look nice some other color palettes...See MoreUpdating Exterior of a 1960s Red Brick Rambling Ranch
Comments (8)I think the house is very attractive, but I would want to amp up the landscaping. Is that a circular driveway or just a walkway? I guess either way, I would add some dimension by landscaping this side of the concrete where the grass is. Not all the grass, but an area close to the concrete. Create a bed (a large one the length of the house at least) with berms and ornamental trees and plants. None of these is ideal, but just to give you an idea of what I'm suggesting....See MoreNeed to update 70s Brick Ranch
Comments (15)@kandrewspa THANK YOU. I did't know what to call the house style and I'd seen others reference a raised brick ranch so I thought that was what it is, but just knowing it's called a Suburban Colonial helps tremendously in my search for ways to update it. The door is a wooden door with a rectangle of leaded glass in it. There's no storm door. I really appreciate all of the input everyone. I'm not a fan of fake shutters so I'll probably remove them and add larger trim around the windows, as well as large columns and just lean in to a subtle colonial look. I'm not a fan of the orange brick so I'll have to chew on whether or not I can live with it and just have the vinyl siding painted a darker color or if I should just using a masonry paint on the brick and do the whole thing a lighter color. We don't close on it for about a month and I'm so itchy to get over there and start on the landscaping. 😐...See MoreKathleen Ryan
