I’m not a Pro, but do you have an accent color?

I was also thinking color! The pink flowers in the kitchen look nice. On the chair I imagine a solid color with a fabric that has some texture to it, or a very small scale pattern/print.

@K 7803 Maybe yes - a bit of color to add contrast. Your scheme is monochromatic as is. More than a throw pillow I wonder about art over the fireplace. Do you plan to add? Is this a new home for you? If you’re adding art, accent color cues can be taken from it for adds such as throw pillows & maybe an afgahn throw on the couch.

ETA - I do like that chair & the pattern of pillows on loveseat & the footstool. They add nice texture to the room.

How about finding a colorful piece of art for over the fireplace first? Choose a color from that art for an accent color.

I personally don't like solid accent colors. I like the accent color incorporated in the print.

So, if your colors are gray and white, I would get gray, white and the accent color.

I would go with wall art above FP. Then pick some colors from art for pillows.

A piece of art yes. But do NOT choose something that "goes" with the room. Instead choose something that you love love love. Go to several art galleries. Take your time. If you get it home and it does not feel right in the room, don't worry; if you've chosen something you love, you will find a place for it elsewhere in the house and carry it with you through your life. If it works, you can take your cue from the artwork, not solely for throw pillows but also for a carpet, perhaps for curtains. No need to bankrupt yourself; just take your time. By the way, your taste is cautious but very elegant too, and that's okay; don't feel pushed in any direction you don't want to do. Good luck making the room someplace you love to spend time.

@K 7803 Everyone has already said everything I think about your question to mine about art over fireplace! Mirror - no. Art - yes! @Marco is absolutely correct about how to select art. It should be a fun journey.

I have been on a journey to find art for two years and can’t find anything I could handle looking at everyday on my wall!

Regarding furniture arrangement, what should I do instead?

An ivory lumbar pillow with a woven pattern would work and would keep the space more monochromatic if that is your preference.
