Mealybugs. If there are only a few smish them with your fingers and rinse them off. If there are several a q-tip dipped in alcohol can swipe them away. If there are lots insecticidal soap works great, as does neem oil.

The white one is a single white evergreen azalea with 5 petals and could be the Satsuki azalea Gumpo White. Azalea âÂÂGumpo Whiteâ (Satsuki) [Late, -5oF, Low] Wavy 2-3" white flowers with occasional purple flecks and small, glossy leaves make this plant especially attractive. Plant grows low and compact. The pink one is a hose-in-hose pink evergreen azalea with 10 petals. The extra 5 petals are form from sepals. The Alabama Extension Azaleas booklet lists several candidates: The Kurume azalea Coral Bells blooms early and profusely. It has pink hose-in-hose flowers. The Glenn Dale azalea Fanfare is hose-in-hose with pink flowers. The Gable azalea Cameo is hose-in-hose with shell pink flowers. The Kurume azalea Coral Bells is probably the closest match of these 3. Azalea âÂÂCoral Bellsâ (Kurume) [Early, -5oF,Low] Blooming in March with 1" hose-in-hose flowers are a warm rose-pink with darker veins. Low and spreading, âÂÂCoral Bells' mounds to 2ý' high in 10 years.

It's a Gentleman's Dresser. You don't often see them intact these days. They usually are long parted out. In our family, we have the chest and the mirror, but the ornate mirror surround and two smaller side cabinets are long gone to who knows where. Candles were often placed on top of the side cabinet to illuminate the user in the mirror. It looks to me that all the hardware is original and, as you can see, the drawers are beautifully made. Some have only one of the smaller side cabinets placed off to the side. Some also have "Eastlake" style spoon carving on the drawer fronts and top of the mirror surround. In the case of our pieces, my Grandmother followed the trend of the 1930's and painted that beautiful oak pink followed later on with white. I had it stripped and refinished back to the original "golden oak" in the early 1990's. If I had to guess, this piece was original offered through the Sears catalog. You may be able to determine if that's true with a little research. They've got a new series LooXo, which features no anthers/pollen sacs. Beyond having a somewhat different look, ... these plants might turn out to be more Thrip resistant ...
