The book probably tells you more than you need to know, but if you read it you'll know 'way more than most roofers who come to look at your roof. My slate is more 150 years old and in constant need of maintenance. The hardest part is finding a qualified and willing worker; I've had some real doozies claim they knew what they were doing. I only try a few of the most basic maintenance techniques described in the book myself, but at least once I found out the correct way things should be done, I wasn't at the mercy of roofer ignorance and mindless prejudice against slate. Thanks for the info! Our test door came with just the cup hole drilled, but it was exactly where I had specified. I talked to Lowell (I hope I have his name right!), and he told me they could do the IKEA pattern, but just send him the template and a digital photo. I'm pretty sure we will go with Advantage. Their pricepoint is the lowest I've found. And I have checked probably 50 different suppliers. I had a line on another company, and their prices jumped from my original estimate, and now I see they don't even put their prices on their site; they want a quote request filled out. They are claiming the "lowest" prices, but I am skeptical. In going with Advantage, do you think I should add another 1/16th to my measurements? I read that they have an allowance of 1/8" either way on their doors, which could be concerning if they are short. Hmmm. Food for thought. I'm looking forward to your full pictoral spread! :^)

@calidesign LOL, well, you know what they say about guests and fish after three days... @Margarita Bravo I like the one wall idea. Plus, a lot less expensive. I have the same print in fabric. I could do a chair or chaise. Would that work? Walls white? @HU-18752810 this print has incredible sentimental value for me. I want to try to use it if I can. But I do have another guest room I'm doing next. That one will be lighter and brighter I think.

No wallpaper on the TV wall, it's too distracting. I would wait to decide on whether or not to change the paint color on the TV wall until you finish decorating that room. For example, the area rug in there seems boring to me. That room would be so improved with a lively rug such as a hand woven tribal. Or if you like a more traditional rug, a hand-knotted Persian is always perfect. The paint colors and the wainscoting are fine, and you can continue the waiscoting in the hallway if you want. I would not paint the stairway a different color. You don't want the house to give a choppy feeling, especially with the open plans they have nowadays. If you are in love with a particular wallpaer, you can cut a few rectangular pieces and put them up spaced, and frame them with pieces of molding and they look as though they are works of art. This looks very nice in a dining room. I don't particularly care for the wallpaper you chose. It is very dense and a bit odd. I would find not restful or happy or inspiring. If you are bound and determined to have it somewhere, maybe have it as an accent wall behind your headboard in the master bedroom. Often people go bold with the wallpaper in the first floor powder room, but I would find it too disturbing for even there. I can't see the alligator piece very well, but I am wondering if it doesn't belong in a children's room? I don't understand what you are asking about the bathroom.
