Question for those whose jobs is in the horticulture field

Do you ever have issues bringing back home diseases/pests and spreading them to your garden from work? Lately I have been more careful than ever and whenever I have to remove a dead plant at work that died from a disease I get absolutely terrified to do so. Like having to dig out a dead rhododendron from phytopthora-I always change shoes before and after work but what if the contaminated soil splashes onto my pants and ends up dropping into my garden when I get home? Or what if I step on an area with my personal shoes at work that I once stepped on with my work boots that had the contaminated soil on it?

There is a sugar maple that recently suddenly completely died from verticillium wilt(it suffered for 4 years) and more than likely I am going to have to cut it down. If the sawdust goes all over my shirt and pants then it is likely that they will end up being in my home outside. Can diseases spread like that?
