A Keiki On A Keiki?
Comments (2)That is normal for the Epidendrum radicans and all the other reed stem epidendrums. You should see some of the unkempt old growth reed stem epidendrums all over Southern California. You might find more than 10 generations of keikis, on top of each other - not a very beautiful sight. Is it normal? Yes. Is it desirable? It depends. I find that new growths produced from the base of the plant produce more robust foliage and flowers compared to what the keikis can produce in their first blooming season. So I cull the keikis to allow the new basal growths to get all the nutrients. I would keep one keiki or two for sharing and trading, but other than that I find the keiki more of a nuisance - for this particular type of plant anyway....See Morerecommendations pls - have Super italian paste and Giant strawber
Comments (3)This sounds like a Walmart-Burpee seed pkt. In which case I don't know and never will. If you're looking for an oxheart/paste, it's best to wait for digdirt or Carolyn Male's response. Hungarian-Italian maybe what you're looking for in a solid paste type with good tasting results. Since you're in L.I.,NY try directing possibilities to Trudi at Wintersown.org OR you could look at offerings ar mariseeds.com Italian culinary...See Morereq: recommend a paste tomato
Comments (3)I like opalka alot. They're a nice meaty tomato with great taste. I've never grown roma but I've had home grown ones and opalka is far better, IMO. They're generally always very productive for me and a mainstay in my garden. Another great tomato is Heidi. My 1st yr growing these and I'm very happy with them in terms of taste and productivety. Heidi holds up really well both on the vine and off....See MoreIs this a spike or a keiki?
Comments (7)Agreed. Orchids are one plant where you never trim a leaf, even if it's yellowing. It will fall off when it's ready. I don't think it's a keiki, as the ones I've seen growing from the base of a plant are tiny leaves ... but I'm not 100% sure it's a spike. It's rounded at the end and could just be a root. You'll find out soon enough!...See Moregetgoing100_7b_nj
