Landscape Design Name That Plant!

I Don't Know What It Is

I came upon this large shrub in an old garden I am helping reclaim. I have counted three of them so far. I have no idea what it is. I have never seen it before. I have slow internet. Help me.

It is a small tree form. I'll give it 20' tall. Leaves look alternate to me to get that out of the way. That picture was blurred. Sorry. They don't look like they have ever been pruned and the garden was planted in the 70's. The form reminds me of Crape Myrtle. Flower, bark and leaves follow.

I'll have to go have a look at that. There is a very large and unusual species of Barberry in this garden too. Full of poisoned ivy. A delicate operation

I do believe you got it floral. This Japanese Clethra definitely goes with the original design of the garden.

Flo Mangan, the species I suggested, Clethra barbinervis, grows into a small tree with colourful bark. This shouldn’t be confused with other Clethras which are not matches.
