Oh no, new sink won't fit my granite countertop opening
Comments (6)I was thinking the same as Trebruchet. A friend of mine had to do this for her new cooktop which didn't fit in the cutout of her previous cooktop. Her granite fabricator came over and enlarged the opening and it wasn't a big deal, though I don't know how much he charged her to do it. That sink is so wow. Don't get rid of it; see if there is a way to fit it....See MoreCan you help me find a sink to fit this hole!!!
Comments (12)BLTx: We moved into this house this past summer. Immediately this "granite bridge" became a daily annoyance. Any and ALL water that splashes onto the bridge finds its way to the floor or the front in a pool to be sopped up by your shirt or waistband. Nightmare. It was clear by slight damage to edge of the under cabinet doors and floor that the problem was chronic. The sink we used was perfect. And the only one that would fit the space of dozens looked at. My granite contractor scoured his sources also and was relieved to see the Forum had solved the problem...cause he was having a tough time. This sink was 10in depth...now 11in total w granite top. Deeper than we initially considered, but it has turned out great. Can you tell we are happy. Now it cost a pretty penny to retrofit the granite and install....yikes....but the sink itself was reasonable. And life is too short to put up w silliness! Comments (22)"to get a high quality it's 2-3x price of granite sink" Nope. Many on this forum love their Kraus stainless steel sinks. They are 16 gauge, which is thicker than the 18-gauge you see in many brands. You can find them on expressdecor or overstock. Also be aware that just because there is the name "Blanco", "Franke", or "Kohler" on the stainless steel sink doesn't mean it was made in Germany, Switzerland or the U.S. These companies sell many sinks made in China. I don't think that a Chinese sink is a bad thing. Just like in the U.S., there are some made better and some not. What I don't like is paying multiples just to have the name Blanco, Franke, or Kohler, thinking you are getting a German, Swiss, or U.S. made sink. These companies do still make some of their sinks in those countries, but you have to call the company's customer service number with the model number you are interested in, and ask them about it. Or the box will also say. But you want a granite composite sink. That seems to be your first priority. Something has to give. Blanco makes the best granite composite sinks, and holds multiple patents on their Silgranit material. If it were me, I would compromise on the 70-30 configuration, and get the BlancoDiamond Super Single Silgranit sink with the corner drain. Once you have a corner drain, you never go back....See MoreDesperately need help finding a sink that will fit this granite ounter
Comments (1)I'd try asking at a real plumbing supply place, they can probably search for you based on the size. You can also have the hole made bigger or reshaped fairly reasonably by a granite fabricator (or DIY if you're up for a mess). Making it smaller would be harder ;-)...See Moremjk2574
