Ceiling mold? Exposed rafter porch

N Johnson
last year

This covered porch with 2 open sides is at the NE corner of the cottage near a steep hill to the north. It is the width (15’) of a small addition added to the rear of a 100 yo cottage. The porch is 3 yo (built during COVID) with an ipe floor and cedar shake walls with bricked foundation. There is a ceiling fan exposed rafters and no gutters (historic structure). The cottage was lifted and a tall crawl (48”) installed for storage and mechanicals. Water takes a little bit to perc but no longstanding water. The roof is shingled with Owens Corning Sherwood Beige — their high-end shingle. We have taken down a number of dying beech trees and a poplar up on the hill. Why the mold? How to fix this?
