Mehitabel I bought some of this a couple of years ago from a guy in France (I am in the UK). I used it as instructed twice and got a new spike from the node each time rather than a keiki. Having read (on this forum I think) someone saying that they had produced keikis from a cut phal spike I did a little experiment this winter. I cut the spikes from three different phals when they had finished flowering. I applied keiki boost to one and nothing to the others. I then placed them in water in a large propagator with my seedlings. I thought the propagator would give better warmth and humidity than a room. The outcome is that two are producing keikis (one with keiki boost and one without)and one has died. I am not sure if this tells you much about the merits of keiki boost but it may well be worth putting a spike in a vase of water once it has finished flowering. Terry

To begin, I'm going to mention what you already know - water heaters spring leaks and sump pumps fail. A bursting pipe is not a situation you can guard against. Before you choose any flooring for a basement, consideration to minimizing future water intrusion is practical. Here are some thoughts. Have a "pan" placed below the water heater. Properly installed one will direct water from a leaking water tank to a floor drain. They really aren't expensive - $25 or so - but the water heater will need to be drained, disconnected and lifted into the pan. A back-up for your sump pump. Most are battery operated but there are also ones which can be powered via city water pressure. Now to flooring. I'm with you about something removable in the event of water so I personally stay away from wall-to-wall carpeting. I'm not familiar with the product you mentioned but without adhesive, any future moisture will seep under the tiles and spread. Removing and drying an entire floor does not appeal to me. In our basement, we installed vinyl tile but used mastak rather than the stick-down adhesive. And we have area rugs too. Surprisingly, the vinyl tiles insulate the concrete somewhat and many guests have been comfotable at the bar in stocking feet. You might want to purchase a small quantity and do a test without actually installing them. You're on the right course, considering alternatives first. Good luck with your basement. I am cleaning my carpets this morning. Do I have Company coming? Noooo! I just want Denver to have shiny new floors and carpets so he can make them dirty all over again. Am I addicted or what. If that does not convince you how's this. Hubby and I have 11 weeks combined vacation time. Exotic vacation coming up? Nooooo!!! We will take them seperate so we can take turns being home with Denver. Oh we are going to take a week or two to go to our local Island area with beaches galore, BUT only if the Motel allows dogs.LOL I can not wait to hear all of your stories on this subject.LOL

enough said. . . thank you for responding. I had read some reviews and was questioning for myself if it was worth the time and money. Evidently not! Maybe the deck will be replaced sooner than I thought!
