Behr ceiling paint-is it good for kitchen ceiling?
Comments (2)First question, why are you using 123 to prime the ceiling. It is a great primer, but if you are not trying to block any stains, you are overspending on primer. Use a standard drywall primer, it is cheaper and will do just as well as 123. Second, Glidden makes a color changing ceiling paint that is far superior to the Behr. It goes on pink and dries white. It goes on pink so you can see any spots you have missed when painting the ceiling. It was designed specifically for the homeowner to fully paint a ceiling the first time. It is a good product that takes the guesswork out of painting a ceiling. You can spend more for ceiling paints such as the Benjamin Moore Muresco or Pratt and Lambert Skylight, but ceiling paint is still ceiling paint. The premium ceiling paints tend to be a softer white than a standard ceiling paint. Remember that the ceiling is there for looks, you are not usually touching or rubbing against the ceiling. High priced ceiling paints do a good job, but, in reality are not much better than the standard ceiling paints....See MoreCeiling paint color with SW Dover White crown molding
Comments (2)With crown molding I would paint a color that will show some contrast between the ceiling and crown. If the ceiling is painted the wall color, the rooms will feel and look taller than they actually are. Crown molding is a great architectural detail that should be noticed....See Moreshould I paint the ceiling just “ceiling paint white” ?
Comments (22)BM Chantilly Lace is a very neutral white. It tends to be too bright white in most homes, but it is the perfect color to compare other whites to when trying to determine the undertone. (Got this tip from Maria Killam) Color meters like the color Muse are not accurate enough to really measure very light colors and, in my experience, are not the best way to determine undertones in White. If you look at Alabaster next to Chantilly Lace you will see the pink I am talking about. Like so many other neutrals, white looks white until we paint a large area. On Trim you may never see the pink undertones. On a 100 SF ceiling it will be more obvious. If you want white and want to be safe, Cloud White is the most popular white sold by Benjamin Moore for a reason. It works with just about anything. You can sometimes do better with a bluer white if you have a light blue gray pallet or a creamier white if you have rich warm golds and oranges. But for a neutral color pallet, Cloud White is usually the answer....See MoreTrim and Ceiling Paint -SW Pure White trim - What white for ceilings?
Comments (27)We closed on our house today wahoooo! I only got to spend about an hour there but looked quickly at the samples for trim/doors/ceilings. I think I've narrowed it down to three possibilities: BM Simply White, SW Extra White and BM Super White. I thought about BM Chantilly Lace too. Basically, looking at the finishings, my first gut is that BM Simply White looks the best. I just worry it may look too yellow once up on everything. At least that's what I read (and you know how reliable the internet is). First question: has anyone had experience with BM Simply White? Does it just read warm or do you see the yellow in it when it's one trim/doors/ceilings? So I may go that direction, or wonder if I should go with a cleaner white but something close. Something still a little warm... As for the runners up, from what I can see SW Extra White and BM Super White are very similar but Extra White maybe looks a little warmer? Maybe because it has more chroma? Is this understanding accurate, Lori A. Sawaya?? And it seems to me that the order of warmth would go SW Extra White, BM Super White, BM Chantilly Lace... is that a correct reading? Again for context - East/West exposures with a lot of shade. Wall colors aren't chosen but would likely be something along the lines of BM Edgecomb Gray, BM Ballet White, BM Chelsea Gray, BM Natural Cream. Daughter's room will be BM Opal. I'll try to take some pics of the finishings tomorrow but would love any thoughts on this. Thanks!...See MoreRelated Professionals
