Please vote on porch cushions - lots of pics!
Comments (36)mitch - still waiting for solid tan and a floral sample from FabricGuru. If those don't work out, I think I am going with the solid dark green that I posted above in the very last set of pictures, probably with the floral throw pillows as shown on the settee even though that's not an outdoor fabric. Hopefully the dark (olive?) green won't show the dirt (or other junk) too much. I'm keeping the bold striped cushions that I think you like, since they're outdoor cushions, and even though the green doesn't match, they're going to be on the other side of the porch. I wish I could just find outdoor cushions that fit the other pieces (n matching stripe would be nice) but 1) I think those cushions are a few years old so pattern no longer available) and 2) other chairs are bigger so cushions are too small, the settee also seems to be an odd (smaller) size - 40" wide instead of 44". Thanks for the tip about light-colored Sunbrella, though, I had been considering that (thinking they'd be easy-clean even if they were light) after seeing "Antique Beige Canvas" and "Flagship Papyrus" in Calico Corners the w/e....See MoreFinally - warm enough to put porch furniture out!
Comments (7)I got the last 4 cushions in this pttern t my local Target, cn't find them online, but they are 2010 pttern so I'm going to cll and see if they're getting more in stock (nd maybe give me sle price on them). I think I'll just get 2 more (or settee cushion if they're getting one in nd it's less $$ and fits) and give up on recovering cushions. Yes, it would be less $$ if I used the $2/yd fabric and the cushions I already hve, but it's easier to just spend another $20 and get 2 more cushions since I usually go to GW near that Target once a week nyway. It kind of blends in with the house color, doesn't "pop" but fter a month of looking for cushions/fabric I'm tired, $60 to do 4 chairs and 1 settee (I think I'm going to put the other settee I got guilted into buying bck on CL) isn't that bad. I'd spend more than that on the outdoor foam to make cushions, never mind S/H nd fbric (even at $2/yd!). I've been seeing you join in lots of threads, Becky - just couldn't stay awy huh ;-)? After you get some sleep and get some things done, come bck tonight nd tell us how some of your projects re going OK? (Sigh, now the i is working, but a is sticky - and I don't feel like going bck and inserting them so forgive my old handmedown laptop)....See MoreAnother porch furniture question
Comments (10)Porch still looks the same as last pic above - wood furniture on railing end, 2 wicker chairs near garage. The galvanized metal tubs I planned on putting potted plants in after putting river rocks in the bottom for drainage. I could still use suggestions as to whether I should use wicker on the railing end before I make more cushions (I did make the one). summiebee - I want hanging baskets for Mother's Day (DH suggested Rascal Flatts tickets but 4 baskets would be less $$ LOL). Big ferns like in toocolorcrazy's mockup would be nice too but I can't ask for everything all at one. I do want to add molding to top and bottom of the columns to make them "fancier" though I don't know about wrapping them all the way up. First have to get the white PVC along the front under the decking. No $ for shutters right now either since I have 10 windows in front incl the garage. porchtalk - first I thought you were a spammer but I clicked on your link anyway and found I'd been to your website. I love some of the porches you've featured, but ours isn't up to that standard yet. I just pulled the top course of stone off the garage side to paint the underneath framing black, we may pull it all off and put hardware cloth under to keep the critters out and then have to redo all the stone. Plus last 2" of Trex along the front edge is warping and we may have to pull the stairs off, extend the edge another 2" so we have 4" wide Trex there. I'll post pics when we're done. Front is 18" above grade so no railing required but if you look at the picture of the end of the porch with the boulders you'll see there is quite a drop off (app 5-6 ft where the downspout is sloping) so we do need a railing or a solid wall at least 34" high there - could still do lattice/trellis over the railing, or remove the railing as long as there is a solid framing member across at 34" high and bottom can't be pushed out, openings no larger than 4"....See MoreOutdoor porch furniture cushions
Comments (6)I would use thick foam rubber cushions and wrap them in high loft quilt batting. If you can get it, buy Sunbrella fabric for long lasting, no fading, no mildew cushions. (Just a little shameless plug for my employer - and yes, I do have an affiliation but it is a wonderful fabric for outdoors and now indoors too!) Teresa...See Moremissb_remodeling
