Hi, what paint colours would everyone recommend for the siding and trim? Should we limewash the limestone? We are also planning to stain the front doors. Thanks!

Your stone is very attractive as is. I wouldn't limewash it but maybe powerwash it. Your stone has brown and grey colors and your current house color has highlighted the brown. To update the look, I would focus on the grey colors/tones. I would do dark warm charcoal for the trim and garage doors and warm/light grey (similar to your stone) for the house body. I would be *very* mindful of keeping the greys warm so they don't clash with the brown roof. Brown and grey combos are some of the hardest to execute but your stone has such a nice balance of both which will help immensely.

Then, remove the shutters, as suggested above.

Take off those silly shutters and what is wrong with the siding you have?I think the stone is not attractive where it is since it looks like it was just stuck on and does not give the illusion of being a aprt of the home . Sometinmes less is more . I do not think limewashing will help either . I gues you could go darker for the siding but honestly the house is already in the shade . I think a better use of money would be some better landscaping and the addition of a walkway to the front entry from the street

But there are no good starting pictures for landscape. They are either at an angle, incomplete view or too close. Stand about 25' - 30' away, in line with the front door, and take 3 slightly overlapping pictures all from the exact same position, panning from left lot line to right lot line. (Space beyond the house ends -- surroundings -- needs to show in the pictures.) Don't substitute a computer generated panorama as it will be without sufficient detail and distorted. (The distance should be similar to the sixth picture you submitted.)

oh ok,,it's not the one I was thinking. The exterior has never been painted, as you can see the primer coat quite clearly. (see the yellowing around the window?) BTW, you could prob have that arched window cut out and replaced w/a more modern looking glass. maybe check w/a door glass business? (Hardware too) you can also look on craigslist for people unloading front doors. sometimes they have some really nice deals on solid wood doors. For instance, if you find a solid wood vintage door, you can easily make them into a Dutch door. are you keeping the storm door? I'd prob paint the edging to match whatever color you do the door here are some Teal shades. I've painted w/Naples Blue. it's rather bold and bright. you know what else might look cool, doing the siding around the door in a cedar slat (or redwood) plank. Of course you're also painting the porch floor and steps too , yes? I'd paint the porch in the peppercorn color, along w/the railing. not so much this door style, but the color is a dark, teal or peacock color. looks great w/the wood siding. and then the surrounding siding in the white, darker porch, (maybe even paint the ceiling w/the peppercorn!!) would look really nice. some darker teal shades like that door. another door style and light here is another dark color. SW Iron Ore. may have a bit more brown to it than Peppercorn. (I also like this door style for your home) And notice the stone accents around the front porch. If the wood idea doesn't suit you, maybe something like this?

I agree - paint the whole garage door. The downspouts on the gutters should also be the dark color. BM Poppy might look too pink with the more orange brick, but you don't want to go too orange either and look like Halloween. I would paint the front door white, like your window trim since you choose such a dark color for the siding.

Whatever you chose, and I like white, you can't just slap paint on brick and expect it to wear well. You need to use paint specifically for masonry. Romabio is what to use on the brick. They have lime wash and paint. Make sure your colors go with your roof color which is very limiting.

nothing wrong with the paint, maybe new garage doors and front doors is a better way to go and opening up the front sidewalk

The garage doors look like black holes, particularly in the first picture. I don't think the eaves need to be painted brown, either. There is nothing wrong with the style of the garage doors, so you don't need to replace them. Paint them a lighter color. Just make sure you know what kind of surface you're painting and prepare it properly so the paint doesn't peel off in six months (this happened to someone I know who used a pro). See if you can find a color for the garage door and eaves that goes with the existing siding. That way you could save yourself from having to paint the siding. I am not 100% sure about the colors since photos can be deceptive, but maybe BM Waynesboro Taupe 1544 is worth a try.

I love the stone. It could be power washed, before you do anything else, or pick any colors. Not all houses need a walkway to the street. Yours appears to be right where it needs to be. Great access from the drive to the door. I dont mind the colors you have now, either. However, it almost appears to be a dark and damp looking area, because of all the over grown trees, sucking up all the light. Put a brighter, lighter color on your front door, so it is a bit more noticable. I also notice that your drive and sidewalks have a bit of damage, and need to be resurfaced. Wondering if that damage is caused by all those trees, and excess moisture.

you can buy window magnetic kits from Amazon, you dont need to replace the doors to get this look, they can also be faux painted.

I love your stone. Maybe bring out the gold color. I love the color of the siding. I would first limb up the tree to be able to see the second story. I cannot see the other tree. It will make your charming home much brighter.
