Happy 4th from Tulsa and lotus bloom
Comments (11)Kristy-There are some beautiful gardens in Tulsa. You know they call NE Okla. "Green Country". I've been in Texas for so long that everytime I go up there in the summer time, I am always in awe of the green lush yards and gardens. Not like here with our "brown season" already kicking in. Not only is the weather and rainfall different than ours but they totally have better soil than we do. I think all of Texas, well maybe not eastward, has terrible rock filled clay soil that you need a jackhammer to get through. That's isn't meant to be funny, we litterally had to get a jackhammer when we were rerouting the underground utilities in our back yard. That is what soured me from gardening because it was too labor intensive just to dig a hole to put a plant into. This year I am willing to tackle the soil again and try to add some interest to the backyard. I'm really tired of looking out and just seeing a weathered grey picket fence surrounding the yard. Oops, I'm getting off topic. I do hope you get time to visit some of the gardens. I know you will enjoy them, it is so peaceful and serene. Just makes you feel good walking through them. Do hope you have a wonderful time there....See MoreHappy 4th of July

Comments (5)Pretty daylilies today! Love Rhinestone, and Sleigh Ride is beautiful, and lovely colors and doubling on Frances Joiner. I had to look for a fly :) Hate when this happens, I usually notice when I download pics from camera. The lily is pretty too. I think Muscadet is white, but I may be wrong. Happy 4th to you too!...See MoreHappy the 4th ?
Comments (22)Milky spore doesn't work immediately, but if it's found some targets (grubs) it multiplies and really does decimate the JBs in a matter of years. It's a long term investment, in my book. I don't think it's effective against the other scarabs, but since JBs are so much more destructive (that willingness to advertise when a victim is found, and draw more JBs) it's still worthwhile. I've been away, and haven't had a chance to inspect my roses up close yet - I just have some giant New Dawns, a neglected Fairy, and a Bonica, all low-maintenance roses - but from across the yard they look better than I can remember from past years. I credit the MS I applied a few years ago, because the New Dawns used to be pretty badly defoliated in early July, every year....See MoreTika Land
