Black patches on tomato leaves

Hi I'm growing tomatoes for the first time and growing them in pots. Recently I've noticed so black patches on some tomato leaves towards the lower end (closer to soil) and a few small holes. Is that a sign of diseases or pest within my plants? Should I cut those leaves? Any advice greatly appreciated! Thanks!

It could be something called silvering (which is common in EU greenhouse production) It could also be evidence of some kind of physiological damage from a chemical (another issue with being in a poly tunnel). A number of things could be causing that issue such as exhaust from a poorly performing heater, off gassing of the plastics or some kind of pollution. It could also just be a "burn" from some quick exposure to a change in temp or light. You might try looking at the Univ Mississippi or Calagary info for greenhouse growers.

The container looks small......is the plant getting enough water? Mine will wilt at the top when they are dry. Not sure about the black leaves, I'd remove them. edit: Might help if I read your post :-/, and you say mix is damp.......your plant just looked like my plants when the mix gets dry.

Thank you. After I posted this question, I did more research and I was honing in on Chilli Thrips. I ordered some products which can help control them, so hopefully I can manage them long term. Just hoping this isn't RRD! Thanks again.

They don't look unhealthy, but I always remove lower leaves from tomatoes - and mulch with hay too - to keep them from getting soil on them.
