thanks for all of the input! oakley, i love yellow too. The room was previously turquoise and lime green and while I like those colors, it was a little dark in there and not very cheery. I just checked out PB rugs. I love the rugs at PB teen, but braided rugs are a little traditional for the space, which is leaning towards eclectic/modern. pricklypear, very nice C&B rug - that led me to the rug i ended up buying. The rug should ship in 7-10 days. I'm excited as this room has been in disarray for months. My little one will have a fun, happy spot to play in soon. :) I'll post photos once the room is done. thanks, Pip

OK, not pushing grey -- just don't want you to settle on something you don't like for such a large part of your room. The sectional we've had for about 13 years now is close to the color of that first close up. It is a very liveable color and goes well with blues and greens. Do look at the type of leather too. That RH sofa appears to be that kind (can't remember what they call it) that will start out looking distressed and just get more so. It will show every mark from kids and dogs - that's the look, so you have to embrace it. See how the cushion sides are already more crinkled than the sofa back? Kind of like having marble counters -- know you will live with patina and not perfection. That will work in your room, but you said you didn't like rustic so much so thought I should mention that. I like the idea of the mossy green. You don't see green leather often, so it definitely wouldn't be cookie cutter.

My husband hates to get rid of things. The rug was in our living room and seemed to be the only one that would work with our bedding. I have an idea to put our bedding in another bedroom and getting something that would look better with the current rug. I do like the rug, just not how it looks with the current bedding.

I found this quilt that has a minecraft vibe and I think would look great with the walls, and it could age with him. The bedroom isn't huge though, 10.5'x14.5' so I wonder if the black will be too dark? The room gets tons of light, but I can't decide if the bedspread would make the bed seem like a black hole or not. He wants this one, which I do think is cute, but not so timeless: Either way I could se them with some minecraft wall art or decals: Then some decorative storage like this cube organizer: I'm not one to decorate, shop a lot or change things up much, so the main elements of a room need to be able to stand the test of time. He's begging for minecraft stuff right now, but 6 months ago it was pac-man.
