Old set-in Blood Stain in slip cover
Comments (2)If one goes to Google and types in the question as one would ask it 'how do I remove old blood stains' there are a surprising number of answers which I do not necessarily accept or reject but one is shampoo which I found interesting. Another says to soak in water and then add the peroxide. There are some stronger peroxides than the one in the brown bottle found at the supermarket. Some teeth whiteners have stronger peroxides. I wonder about hair bleaching products. I am not sure I would try these until I had decided I was despirate and the slip cover no longer had value....See MoreMy stained blue cabinets are in!!! Picture overload
Comments (44)LOL, Adrienne2011 you can come over whenever you want to and see the cabinets in person, especially if you can help pick paint colors or put together chandeliers! ;) Seriously. Anyone want to put together chandeliers? Please? Anyone? ICFgreen we are doing stone all the way up our fireplace, the same stone that is on the outside of our house. It's real stone, not stone veneer. I don't have a pic, but I THINK they will be putting it on soon (I found out that was why these cabinets had to go in now, they needed them in before putting stone on) honorbiltkit I am going up to PA to see my cabinet maker on labor day weekend and I will ask him then. They are extremely busy right now and I don't want to ask him to type everything out for me about how the stain was done. If I get an answer as to exactly how the staining was done, I will definitely post it on here. I am about 99.9 percent sure they just used domestic USA-made no/low VOC 3/4 maple plywood for these cabinets like they are doing for all the others in our house. I'm not sure about the magic wand and incantations ;) When they made us our stain sample, Jason's dad just went in the back and mixed it up somehow and put it on wood. The whole thing took about 4 minutes and there was no bleaching or staining or anything involved, so I'd be surprised if they bleached here... beekeeperswife we are in Wernersville (made famous by being the home of Jon & Kate Plus 8, LOL) so a bit over an hour outside Philly. I am sure Dutch Wood will be willing to go to you (you're going to be outside Harrisburg right or am I totally off?) They are going to Brooklyn and Washington DC to do cabinets for people who found him off of GW. Needless to say, I would highly recommend them if you do a kitchen or need any type of cabinets for your new home. Thanks to everyone else again as well for looking and commenting :)...See MoreDark stained built-in bookcases and FP
Comments (21)I changed black on the fireplace for antique brass, lol. And an old one at that. Everybody and theirs aversion I guess.. Together with that, whitewashing seems more natural looking. (I remember one of the last entries in Maria Killiam's blog was dedicated to changing a brick fireplace..many comments about fully painting vs whitewashing vs completely changing..if you want I can find it for you. Commenters share their experiences and all. ) Otherwise, I don't think the transformation is better than what they had. They like it more because it's newer, and they got tired of the old look. But for me, who sees it for the first time, nothing screams "What a great transformation". (and yes, I am somebody who hated her newly inherited fireplace so much she changed it as much as she could. (Still not done). So I get it. I fully get the desire to completely change the look of an irritating fireplace. I am just not particularly impressed with the article) I agree with nosoccermom-it's better to tackle(or not) the fireplace last. You'll see better what it asks to be, when you change other things around....See MoreHow do I get stains/wet stains out of my kitchen doors?
Comments (8)Same thing. Plastic. Get em clean with Dawn. Then keep water OFF of them. Cabinets should only be dry dusted. Water is only if you splat spaghetti sauce on them. Water will ruin cabinets if you keep it up. And if you have hard water, get a water treatment system. Mineral deposits would be high on the list of suspects since you say you cleaned off the glop with the Dawn already....See Morepetalique
